Oh geez - thanks a lot, CZ - now that I'm somewhat educated on the upcoming RAMI pistol, I'm very intrigued. Let's compare these two, shall we?

First off, if you want one in .40s&w, looks like the RAMI would arrive in that caliber first (but still no guarantees on either - neither is available at present), so the RAMI will have to win by default on that one.

As for 9x19, this seems like an interesting comparison for me for a reasonable cost, deep concealment CCW:

1. Price: XD's MSRP is $489. Anyone have an idea what the RAMI will be?

2. Trigger: XD's is a hybrid double action (short DA). RAMI's is apparently a "select-fire" ( :) ), in that you can choose between DAO and SAO. Or am I misreading the description, and it's simply a traditional DA/SA? If it IS select-trigger, can it be carried DA/SA at all, or must one simply choose between DAO and SAO?

3. Size: Same bbl length (3.0"). XD is 6.26" overall. RAMI is 6.6" overall. I don't see the width of the XD offhand - anyone know?, but the RAMI width is 1.26" - really this is kinda wide for a carry gun - wider than I'd like, for an *ideal* carry gun, or deep concealment gun.

4. Frame material: XD is polymer. RAMI is aluminum/steel ??? (CZs website doesn't say).

5. Capacity: Same (10+1 in 9mm). It's possible that one or both would hold 11 or 12 with standard caps or .40 mags, but I just cannot tell. 10 may be the limit in one but not the other or vice versa. In .40, mag cap is 8 in the RAMI, unknown in the XD.

6. Features (these can be pros or cons depending on your preferences): CZ has external safety, XD does not. XD has loaded chamber indicator, grip safety, trigger safety; CZ has none of above, NAICT.

7. Weight: appears to be pretty similar. XD is 23.68 oz (unloaded?). RAMI is 695 grams, unloaded. Someone do the math....

8. Sights: XD has steel square notch; RAMI has same, but RAMI's appears to more snag-free, although CZ commits the same common but nonsensical error with these by making the rear sight ramp slope from front to back, instead of from back to front, as they should for snag-free drawing.

9. XD has a slide release; RAMI does not.

Other comparisons or more detail on these? Thanks. I kinda favor the XD in 9x19 in this comparison, for reasons of size, corrosion resistance, and slide release, but I'd go with the RAMI if it comes out in .40 first, as it probably will. But the price will be a possible factor too, if the RAMI somehow ends up being signficantly less. Oh yeah, RAMI wins hands down in looks department, IMO, but this is negligible concern for me personally. As for a true pocket pistol, neither one fits the bill any more than the Glock 26/27 or Kahrs or others do - too big. I'll stick with the P3AT or wait for the Rohrbaugh for a true pocket carry number.

The little XD is a very sweeet little gun. I've no complaints about it. I honestly think they are one of the best new designs out there.
That being said, I'd rather have the RAMI for some reason. Why? I'm not sure. An all metal gun is more attractive to me. Cleaner lines. While the XD is a nice trigger... a real SA is nicer.

Hmmmm, that weight you mentioned comes out to around 24-25oz. That sounds good to me, much better than the 28 I had heard(although PCRCCW said it could be less than 28).
As to price, I don't think it would be any more than the PO1/PCR guns, but I've been wrong before. If it is in that range it should compete very well with the XD guns......tom

I'm waiting for the CZ, the XD is way too fat and won't even fit in a Glock holster. Bren

XD sub is a block

The XD subcompact is a simple chop job in the lengths of the slide and the grip.

The result is a blocky pistol with a bore axis that seems too high for its dimensions.

Take a look at the SW99 compact. It should sit shorter in the hand and is surely thinner.

I think Walther is working on a sub P99, but the SW99 is a very nice little gun with a rounded trigger guard and overall smooth contours. It should pack away nicely.

The XD should be called the Chunk.

The RAMI's release date is like throwing a dart at a dart board 100 yds away...DRUNK. You may hit something...but what?

The gun was designed with an alloy frame, alla PCR :D, but they went with steel as the little things frame got pummelled with the 40 chambering. So the entire gun is steel.

Personally being a slight :scrutiny: CZ guy...Id wait for the RAMI...
With all of the hell these guys are going through with this gun...it should be an absolute shooter.

The price will be slightly higher than the PCR/PO1 are currently for the RAMI....slightly.

shoot well

Thanks. If it's all steel, I just may like it. I want steel or plastic, not aluminum, in a handgun that is going to take a beating. I want to be able to pass it on to my heirs. Maybe I shall wait for the RAMI. Certainly it's better looking.

What is the width of the XD exactly? Anyone have that?

What about this trigger action thing on the RAMI? Can it be made to be used as a traditional DA (first shot)/SA (thereafter), or must it be used as either DAO or SAO? It's a select trigger, but does that mean all 3 choices? (DA/SA, DAO, SAO), or just 2 of the 3? Or something else?

And the release date is one of those indefinite waiting games eh?

XD subcompact isn't a chop job, if you read up on it you'll see that the pistol was redesigned to be smaller, they didn't just hack off barrel and grip. that being said, both nice guns.

I see that the CZ won't have the loaded chamber indicator, but any word yet as to whether it'll have a "magazine disconnect" feature?

If it doesn't come out soon I won't be able to get it cuz of that new law Gray Davis signed!
