REVIEW & RANGE REPORT > CZ 2075 RAMI BD

DSCN8114.jpg

Ceska Zbrojovka has long been known for making quality firearms. Though CZ has since long been making CC handguns in smaller calibers (like CZ 83), CZ 2075 Rami is 9x19 Parabellum sub-compact model of Cesks Zbrojovka. Based on famous CZ75 design and known for its extraordinary accuracy, robust construction and high reliability, Rami has gained tremendous popularity off late and has been competing the likes of Glock 26, Kahr K9, H&K 2000 SK etc. Based on CZ 75 famous slide-in-frame design, it beats perhaps all its competitors in accuracy and has emerged as one of the best options for CC / backup handgun. With its extended magazine option of 14 rounds, one can almost carry as many rounds as in a large frame handgun.

Rami shown in this review is 2075 BD which is a variant of 2075 and has a decocker instead of standard safety. There is no other difference in CZ 2075 Rami and CZ 2075 Rami BD.

Had one for years. Great little pistol. I really loved the fact that it had full length frame rails.

What is remarkable is it's accuracy. Didn't expect such accuracy from a compact (less than 3 inch) barrel gun.

Which model did you have?

Now you've done it - you've got me wanting one now. :banghead:

Actually, it would make a great "little brother," with commonality of operation, to my PCR. I too would like to see it made in a slender, single stack grip.

Hi,
I am a new Rami user and this is my first post on this forum. I have so far shot around 200 rounds from my Rami. This gun is amazingly accurate for its size, no doubt. But after shooting 40-50 rounds, the trigger started hurting my shooting finger. I am used to shooting 100 plus rounds on the range so that is not an issue. What I want to ask is that has anyone else also faced this problem or there is something wrong with my hold / trigger pull. Feed back would be appreciated.

BTW, what a wonderful forum. I think I will take days to go through the information available here. Thanks :)

I carry a CZ 2075P in a High Noon Closing Argument. when ever I can't carry my normal -75B. Absolutely fantastic little gun.

I also pocket carry it to black tie events.. no darned belts on them tuxes.

I've never heard of a single problem with a RAMI BD.\\
The gun costs more, but BD owners seem very happy.

I'd like to get a RAMI P, then eventually a BD, so I'd have all 3 RAMI models.

Ever consider a shoulder holster??

I currently carry my alloy RAMI in a High Noon Under Taker shoulder rig
(horsehide) made for the P-01.

Will be looking to obtain a black leather Under Taker for my forthcoming RAMI P.

You really can't go wrong with any HN product.

If I could find a RAMI to fondle, I'd probably want one. Badly. So, I suppose it's just as well that I can't. :neener:

Can anyone post a comparison shot with, say, a G26, a PF-9/P-11 or even a P380/LCP?

Hi guys.

The UnderTaker is molded for the half-cock hammer of the P-01, but I carry my RAMI with the hammer down on a live round.

A RAMI specific UT might be the best bet.

Gentlemen, Rami is my new conceal carry gun now. The reason is that its reliable, always works and is damn accurate. I am amazed to see the accuracy of this 2.9 inch barrel; it shoots better than many large frame guns that I own. Due to its large capacity, more potent ammo and excellent night sights, it now sometimes replaces my old trustworthy Makarov. However, Makarov still has the advantage of being more concealable and is off course, also very very accurate.

Here are some of the targets that I shot with my Rami :D

DSCN7989.jpg
This is the first target that I shot with my NIB Rami. 20 rounds from 10 M, off hand. Isn't it a delight for a new owner to see his NIB gun shooting like this.

DSCN8056.jpg
Tried 20 rounds from 15 M, off hand. Not bad

DSCN8062.jpg
Though it was not fair to shoot a 2.9 inch barrel from 25 M, I did that, just to see how this gun performs at slightly longer distances. It did quite well, I think.

DSCN7899.jpg
Just for comparison sake, my old Mak shot this, from 20 M, 10 rounds of Federal 9x18 ammo. Just see the size of groups, it still works ;)

Ok guys, based on feedback received, we are sharing a little more detailed version of the review here for THR membership

Hi guys, this is SA from TGF. I'm the Site Admin there and I am sharing our small effort to review and test at the range the above mentioned gun.

REVIEW & RANGE REPORT – CZ 2075 RAMI BD

DSCN8114.jpg

Packing:

Rami comes in a hard plastic case which is further enclosed in a cardboard box. Packings includes a spare magazine, a safety lock, a plastic cleaning rod and a cleaning brush. The documentation includes a certified fired target, a user's manual and a warranty card. Quite a few things in a small pistol case. :D

Finish, Looks and Manufacturing Quality:

DSCN8044.jpg

Rami is a very well finished gun and gives the look of a top end gun. The gun has a matte black polycoat finish which has been nicely done. With the normal magazine, Rami looks quite elegant but with the extended magazine, it looks a bit out of balance (bottom heavy) in the first look, though handling the gun is quite easy with the extended magazine. All external and internal parts are very well finished and there are no tooling marks and rough edges.

Slide, Frame and Grip:

DSCN8085.jpg

Rami has a well made forged steel slide in matte black polycoat finish. As in all CZ75 slide-in-frame design, the slide grooves are on the outer side all along the length of slide. Accordingly, the slide is much lesser in width and height as compared to most other handguns. When fully assembled, slide houses the barrel, recoil mechanism, firing mechanism, extractor and ejector. Sights are fixed on the top in a dovetail.

The frame is made of aluminum alloy, has black polycoat finish and is quite light in weight. Full length slide grooves are located on the inside of the frame which provides a very tight slide to frame fitting, the secret of CZ75 model accuracy. Decoker lever, take down lever and mag release are located on the frame on left side and are non-ambidextrous. The mag release lever and decocker can however be installed towards the right side for left handed shooters.

Grips are made of checkered black rubber, provide a firm hold. Overall, the size of grips is quite small, as in case of most sub-compact handguns. Front and rear serrations on the frame provide good hold, however, with the standard 10 round magazine it is not easy to firmly hold the Rami, specially for shooters with big hands. With extended 14 round magazine which enhances the grip size to about 12 mm, hold is not an issue though it enhances the overall gun size and sort of compromises its concealability a little.

Action and Barrel:

CZ 2075 RAMI is a short recoil operated, locked brech pistol which uses the Browning linkless cam locking system. On firing, this system locks the barrel and slide together with the help of a lug which is part of the barrel and fits into the recesses on the roof of the slide. After initial recoil stroke, the barrel is cammed downwards at the rear, allowing the slide to continue the recoil stroke and eject the spent cartridge.

The barrel is of high quality, is made of hammer forged steel and is a little less than 3 inches in length. Like most other CZ handguns, the barrel is not chrome plated. Despite its tiny size, the remarkable accuracy of the gun speaks of a very precise rifling of lands and grooves in the barrel.

Trigger Mechanism:

CZ 2075 RAMI has a DA / SA trigger. The trigger pull measures approximately 1.6-2.5 lb in SA and 5.5 lb in DA mode.

Not a great trigger really, Rami's trigger has quite a long pull and then some creep before it finally breaks. The breaking however is quite sharp. During dry firing, I was not impressed with the trigger at all, however, after shooting the gun, I realised that despite the creep and pull, the trigger allowed me to achieve a clean break most of the time. I think after shooting over 300-400 rounds, the creep should reduce and that would make it a remarkable trigger.

Recoil Mechanism:

For a gun of this small size, Rami does not have a strong recoil though it still jolts the hand of the shooter. If I have to compare it, its far more than Makarov and far less than a Taurus PT145. Nevertheless, the overall balance of the gun makes it quite convenient to place a quick and accurate second shot, though not as good as a Makarov. The double recoil spring helps in reducing the recoil a great deal. Surprisingly, the recoil guide rod is made of plastic

REVIEW OF SIGHTS, MAGAZINE, RELIABILITY, MAINTENANCE, SUITABILITY OF PURPOSE AND SAFETY MECHANISM ARE GIVEN IN THE COMPLETE REVIEW HERE.

Accuracy:

Below are the results of Rami’s accuracy conducted from 10, 20 and 30 M.

Accuracy Test - CZ 2075 Rami
Condition: NIB
Dist: 10, 20 & 30 M
Ammo: POF 2Z
Sequence: 5 shots from 10 M, 5 from 20M and 5 from 30M on the same target.
Stoppages: None out of 15 bullets.
Precision Shooting Score: 132 / 150 (88%)
Groups
- 10 M................1.2 inches (50/50 pts)
- 20 M................1.2 inches (50/50 pts)
- 30 M................3.4 inches (45/50 pts)
- ....................... 145/150 (93.33%)
Overall Score......... 132+145=277 / 300 (92.33%)
Accuracy Rating: EXTREMELY ACCURATE

DSCN8052.jpg

I have carried out accuracy tests of many guns and I can tell you that most of the large size handguns wouldn't be able to shoot more accurately than a sub-compact Rami. Boy, 1.2 inches from 20 M is remarkable accuracy

Now few results from range sessions conducted with CZ 2075 RAMI. All target have been shot using both hands, without any support. The distance, ammo and other details are given on the targets.

DSCN8056.jpg

4 string of 5 bullets each were shot from 15 M, in standing position with hands un-supported. Rami make an average group of 2.6 inches which is not at all bad for a combat handgun of any size.

I have a RAMI-P and wish it was a BD b/c I'm partial to decockers. Other than that, I love it. It's amazingly accurate for such a small gun. I love the RAMI and all my CZs. I have yet to find a firearm manufacturer whose guns I like better than CZs.

Now this question is specifically for the RAMI "P" owners.

Do your magazines drop free or do you have to pull them out when empty?

My RAMI P is most certainly requires the magazines to be pulled out.
Right and that has been my experience with the "P" (Poly Frame) model as well.

I know that the alloy frames have a spring that you can tweak to get the mag to fall clear, but I don't think - and have never been able to verify - a fix for this on the poly frames.

And if I was to do it again I would get the alloy over the poly frame just for this reason. That and you can change out the grip panels on the alloy frame for a very nice upgraded look.

Any help for my "P" frame magazines?

P.S.

My RAMI looks a heck of a lot better than my Glock, has a better trigger, has a safety, carries cocked and locked. But, my Glock gets carried because the magazines fall free. Just like all of my other bottom feeders.

I owned a RAMI for years before trading it a while back. Just bought a new one, as I missed the little guy so much. One of the most straight forward, reliable little pistols on the market.

@ Boomslang,

So how's the new one performed during the last two months :)

I have the 2075 BD.
Never a problem, misfire, jam, anything. Just works.
The machining is really nice, I was going "This is from the Czech Republic?" Believe me those guys know something about guns.
If I were to nitpick, there are two things I don't like.
1. The gun is too thick. Not a good carry choice, considering a Kahr PM-9, etc.
2. The slide release is too short. Nowhere near my thumb. Rumor has it that the slide release from the SP-01 will fit, but I haven't tried. (I know, I can use the other thumb, but why?)
