Hurray! I'm going to add to my gun rack a .243 bolt-action rifle (I need one! plus my brother-in-law is giving me a suhweeeet scope for it).

I plan to buy new. I've checked out just about everything, and narrowed it down to CZ, Remington, and Savage. All three felt really great.

Any info that could tip the scales?

I have a Savage 12 in 223. I like the trigger. The action is smooth and the price is right. Several people at the range have shot it and were impressed as well.

Good luck,

Fun problem to have!

Jim

I had a older Savage in 243 Winchester. I loved it. I was very pleased with the accuracy and never had a problem with the rifle in the 14 years I owned it and hunted with it. Now with the new Accutrigger, Savage rifles are even better in my opinion. Enough so that I purchased a new Savage, only in 30-06 this time around. While I can't gaurantee that you'll love it, I can attest to my personal experience and have no problems recommending Savage to anyone. Probably the most accurate economy gun out there. Accurate as in straight out of the box. sub-1" 5 shot groups with my .243 at 100 yards.

Just my recommendation, but also, if you read the reviews, stay away from the cheap little Remington 710. Remington revamped it since they brought it out, but still isn't thought very highly of.

Good luck!

Seth

I'm in the process of getting a new CZ-550 in 9.3x62. The only delay is that this is not a common caliber so it's taking some time for the store to get one in. Anyway, my vote would be for the CZ. For a mass-produced rifle, I think it has the best action out there. The Tikka T3 would be another quality choice.

All three are good by most accounts, but I have experience with the Savage Model 11GL (G = Hunter Series, L = Left-handed). They're not all that expensive, especially when compared to the others. Mine's a .243Winchester. With Winchester or S&B 100gr SP's, I can put three rounds into 1" at 100yds. With any number of rounds I've chosen to shoot in fairly quick succession, I can generally keep bustin' clays. Right now, it's wearing a fixed 4X scope in see-throughs. I intend to dismount the scope and install a Williams Foolfproof w/TK's shortly.

OK....

If you're poor buy the Savage

If you like nice rifles buy the CZ

If you like spending money buy the Remington.

Me; I'll choose CZ every time:evil:

Remington if resale value is your priority.

CZ or Savage if an excellent factory trigger is your priority.

I absolutely love the set trigger on my CZ 527.

I forgot to mention the AccuTrigger on my M11GL. It can be adjusted down to 2.5lbs pull weight. I really like mine.

i would go with CZ if i where you.

im looking to get a CZ 550 FS in 6.5 swede for my next rifle. just something about them...

If you like the option of being able to rebarrel the action yourself (you could shoot 5+ calibers out of the same action just by swapping barrels) then get the Savage. If you could care less, then flip a coin as any of them will be fine.

if you are gonna beat it up, then go savage, if you wanna keep it a beauty, then go cz. Cz then savage, will be the most accurate, in that order.

If this is a hunting rifle

and accuracy isn't the most important thing to you then any of them will do and all are good guns. The Savage is probably the most accurate of the bunch, I have 6 and all of them are 1/2 MOA, or better, shooters. None of them have been worked on on at all. The CZ is a beutiful rifle and very accurate as well. I don't like Remingtons because, in my opinion, they are overpriced. It is true however that most bench rest shooters use Remington actions but, it is also true that throw just about everything else away including barrel trigger and stock.

If you get the Savage with an Accutrigger, it will be most likely to have the best trigger action of the three rifles you mentioned.

PFFFT! The CZ's single set tigger makes the ACCU/GLOCK trigger fell like a cheap off brand double action revolver.

I've sampled both the CZ and Savage triggers. Between the two, I choose the Savage AccuTrigger. I've sampled Glock triggers too. Nothing Glock about the AccuTrigger.

:neener: ACCU-GLOCK

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but do you have any idea how cheap talk is? Especially when, in comparing the Savage AccuTrigger to a Glock, one fails to realize they're two different systems. I've felt the Glock trigger and found it to be horrid. I own a Savage Model 11GL .243Win. with AccuTrigger and it's a very nice 2.5lb pull weight that's easily adjusted to.

That's fine and a respectably good trigger. but when compared to a CZ with the trigger set that's about 2 to three times heaver. and is in fact close to how I have my CZ's triggers adjusted UNset.

Plus you don't have the Glock's funky trigger action:neener:

but do you have any idea how cheap talk is?

My 2 cents will buy the same amount of stuff yours will:D
