Just picked up my new CZ455 American in .22lr yesterday. My LGS finally got one in and set it aside for me. Paid $390. Gun is absolutely beautiful. Everything I had hoped it would be. Fit and finish is supreme, stock is beautiful.

Now to the question of scope and ring combos. Right now I am leaning towards a Leupold VX-1 2-7 with Burris signature sings to mount straight to the dovetail.

Anyone have any suggestions? Rins? Scopes? picatinny adapter? I want to keep it simple and sharp lookin. No crazy tactical scope with huge knobs, classy and simple.

Little info on how you will use your rifle , plinking , hunting , some matchs ? It should accurate enough for 2" 200 yard groups down to shooting .22 brass at 25 yards. Something in the 2.5-10 , 4-16 or 6-24 range would show more of what the rifle can do. Check out the site below and the Mueller scope . Lots of guys use this scope for general use . For what its worth , we have 4 - .22lr rifle s and the lowest power scope we have is a 4-16x40 as that's on my wifes lite weight rifle. Rings ?? Warne would be may choice .

Mueller apv 4-14 will do well for less money

I am thinking the OP wants a sleek looking low powered variable to sit atop his new trim 455 American. Along with the Leupold VXI 2x7 he mentioned the Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm Glossy EFR would be a good choice with it's adjustable objective which will allow you to focus down to about 10 yds. As far as rings go the bright polished finish of Leupold rings will be a nice match between the CZ's finish and the scope gloss.

I have the Leupold 2-7x28 scope on my Marlin and it is a nice scope for everything but dedicated target shooting .

I also have a Weaver 3-9x32 ao rimfire scope that I like a lot on my 10/22 .

I still haven't put a scope on my 452 . I think that I might put a Mueller on it .

The 2-7 you mention is fine but I would have parallax changed to 50 yards unless you intend mostly 100 yard targets and I would think you would want more magnification if that were the case. I think Leupold charges $30 and they can do it on just about any of their scopes if you find one used.

Personally I enjoy targets and hunting so I mounted a VX2 4-12 AO with fine duplex on mine. I like your choice in rings.

The Leupold rimfire 2-7 has the parallax set at 60 yards. I have the Leupold 2-7 on a 455. I mounted it using air gun rings for a 11mm rail. They were less than $10.

I have a 4-14x40 AO Leupold VX-3 on my CZ 453 Varminter. Probably wouldn't have put that expensive a scope on it, but had the scope on hand thru a trade. Makes an incredible combination that has given true .2's at 50 yards with Wolf Match ammo.

IMO, if you're expecting to shoot one hole groups you need magnification. See fine to shoot fine. Everything is a trade off somewhere.

The brands I've found most often recommended at RFC are, in no specific order:

Leupold
Clearidge
Weaver
Sightron
Burris
Mueller
Nikon

I like Burris Signature rings, Warne and TPS as 3 value lines that perform admirably. Remember to choose rings high enough to allow clearance for the bolt handle, this is where choosing a scope with a smaller occular diameter makes good sense.

I have the Warne .22 rings on a CZ and have no complaints. You have to use great care putting on the top clamp to avoid marring the scope's finish.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am basically just going to be plinking a ton, hunting a little, and shoot groups every once and a while.

i did the same thing on my 455 just because i got the scope for a steel but need more xxxx
on it

The CZ's are so accurate that you will likely be drawn to target shooting. For that, the more magnification the better. The Mueller scopes do have good glass but remember they are NOT hunting scopes. When you try to look through them, you have to bobble your head around to find that spot that isn't blacked out (exit pupil issue). They are not all that rugged either.

You probably don't want to get a high quality, higher magnification scope and use Wolf Match Extra. 'Cause if you do, you'll most likely be able to put five shots inside a fingernail size target at 50 yards. Then you'll be hooked.

I have some neighbors that come out from Chicago on the week-ends. Kids had never shot a real rifle until last summer. I had a 3" steel plate at 100 yards. They were hitting it about every shot with Blaser bulk ammo.

This is my 452 with Aguila SE Subsonic ($3.99/box) at 50 yds with a $20 used Tasco 3-9X and parts box Weaver rings. I don't intend to keep it scoped as it isn't an American but you don't need copious amounts of magnification to shoot decent groups (that's 2, 5-shot groups).

that is impressive skyler

I appreciate the kind words but there are guys that shoot groups half that size with the same model. I lack the current resources to afford better than my $20 Hoppes rest and sandbags and I'm just bagging squirrels anyway.

OP, IMO a Weaver Classic Rimfire in 2.5-7 X 28 would be a great choice for a svelt package that allows for good groups without losing utility in the woods, which, again IMO, is where every rifle should be at home. For rings, Talley makes an elegant, well crafted set to fit the CZs at around $50. When I've saved my pennies that combination is my intended purchase.

Rings can be tricky for those CZs. I bought some luepold mediums for a vortex crossfire ii 3-9x40. Had to send them back for some high rings because the bolt handle on the CZs come up higher than most rifles, and it was hitting the scope tube.

I use Burris signature zees with the offset inserts on JP adapters on my 455. I've got a Mueller APV mounted in them. The combo works for me, may not be what you're looking for though.
