Hello all,

Looking for a replacement mag brake for my CZ75. Disassembled it at the range, it fell out, long story short, I need a new one. Have not heard back from CZ USA, was hoping there was someone that could give me a lead. It does not matter whether it is DF or NDF. Thanks.

The loose mag brake is a hit and miss thing....what you have to do is..the first time you take the grips off...see if the top pin is loose or not. Some are and some arent. If you actually lost it.........too bad. You can call CZUSA and talk to MIKE....hes the parts/gunsmith and is top notch.
Get the CZ85 mag brake, its a DF design and the cost is the same.
Get the top pin also....when you install it...just get a pointed punch and "peen" it with a little dot into the frame and it wont fall out again.
Hope this helped...............

If you found the old brake...you can fix it in about 2 seconds....email me.

CZ instructs people to either replace the part with the "free-fall" version, or to have it modified by a gunsmith. They say that the gun should not be used with the part removed, for what it's worth.

My Pre-B 75 came with the mag brake removed and discarded. I tried it that way for a little while but the mag would hang up in the well on insertion occasionally. I believe that's why CZ USA does NOT reccomend using the pistol with the mag brake out of the gun. I got a replacement "drop free" mag brake from CZ that solves that problem, but the dimensional differences between the old and new model 75's mean that the mags still won't drop free even with the "drop free" brake.

i know you're supposed to replace the mag brake with the free fall plate, but i just haven't had the time to do it. and to tell you the truth, it really doesn't make that much of a difference, if any at all.

Well guys....it does serve more than one purpose. I wont say what you should do......Whether or not you use it is strictly up to you.
But here are a couple of points you should think about............

1) It acts as a guide for your mags.......I know a guy who was competing in a steels' match without a guide. He ran a mag into the grip housing and got it jammed...ruined the mag body. :what: It its a defensive gun...yould better be using one of them. It truely keeps it "in line" when its being inserted.

2) It keeps crap....powder, residue etc. out of your main spring housing and internal workings.....without it you can plan on completely tearing down your guns hammer assembly once in a while..or run the risk of mechanical inconsistency...later on down the road.

In any gun....even a CZ. There is NO REASON not to use one. The DF mag brakes DONT interfere with the mags dropping. If they do...call CZUSA and tell Mike whats going on.....

Ive used both and frankly straightening the OEM's works just as well, if not better......the trick is snipping of the bottom nub that interferes with the main spring assembly when reinstalling it.............it will let it get "truely straight" when installed and actually let the mags drop.

Its up to you..........Shoot well

Cut the nub?

I straightened my mag brake but simply punching out the top pin and bending the creases a little in the opposite directions. I didn't have to use pliers, and it took less than 5 minutes. I suppose I could re-bend the brake again and convert it back to NDF.
