I just got my 14 lb recoil srping for my cz75b from wolf and noticed the spring doesnt grip the guide rod. I installed anyways and i couldnt rack the slide. I also noticed that when i ordered the gun i did not specify my cz was the "B" version. What should i do?

I answered this on the CZ Forum.

Wolff doesn't make a CZ-specific recoil spring, but provides springs for the EAA Witness for CZ buyers.

The springs are slightly larger in diameter than the stock springs. (Factory weight is 14 lbs, but are generally closer to 12 lbs. I use Wolff, generally the 16 lb. version.) If you've having trouble racking the slide, 1) you've got something out of place (i.e., the guide rod base isn't pressing against the barrel lug), or 2) they shipped the wrong spring.

Browning Hi-Power springs seem to work well, and fit the guide rod better.

Walt is right..the guide rod on the CZ is smaller than the Tan. guns but work well as the come. Make sure the spring is installed properly and all should be fine. Id use a 16# in my fullsize 9mm and an 18# for 40S&W...Shoot well.

i have a 16lb spring aswell, but i did a search and some people report some FTF with the 16 lb spring. I want my cz to have 100% reliability.

If folks are having Failure to Feed problems with a 16 lb. spring its not because of the spring.

Eric (PCRCCW) and I are long-time members of the CZ Forum, and this is a topic that hundreds of members there have dealt with. Like Eric, I use 16 lb. springs as standard for my full-size CZs.

The Wolff 16 lb. springs DID NOT cause feed problems. Something else is causing the problem and the change in springs just made the problem more obvious. (Some folks use 18 lb. and 20 lb. springs in their CZs. That's just too heavy for me -- I find a 16 lb. harder to rack than I like.)

That said, a 14 lb. spring should be fine for standard ammo.

Ditto........the only thing that a recoil spring can do to induce failures is if the mag spring cant keep up with the increased velocity of the forward slide speed.
This comes with using very heavy recoil springs......Extra power mag springs are needed for extra quick and sure mag loading. Ive yet to have a problem with this combo in ANY gun.....cz or otherwise.
Shoot well.

seems like the rod points down sometimes. I got it working but i hope the rod wont do this while i am shooing.

That is good to hear that the 16lb springs are relaible. I also got the Wolff extractor spring, is it tricky to take apart the extractor? Unfortunatly i dont have a pin punch small enough, the only punch i have is the one in my sks's cleaning kit hehe.

It almost looks like the spring is too long or not seated properly at the front. I guess a fatter spring would do that.

Here's a pic of the stock spring on my 75BD.

The extractor spring is really easy to take out, simply punch the pin out from the top of the slide (but don't push it all the way out) and slide in a new one. The trick is holding the extractor in place while you push the pin back into the extractor hole...
