I decided to put in a wolff 14# recoil spring in my CZ-75b. Thye are a tad longer than factory stock springs, maybe too long. when fitted with the wolff springs, I can here the spring grinding inside the slide as I work the slide back and forth. check out the pictures.

I know what your talking about, I didnt like the way mine felt either, and took it out. They say it will seat and get better, but sometimes it would lock the slide up. It did function allright, however. I was using a 15# spring, it also dosent fit the guide rod like the stock one did.

Looks to me like those springs are designed for the Tanfoglio/Witness 121MM barrelled guns because the amount of kink in them is about the difference in length of my "L" model Tanfoglio. If you want to recoup some of your expense PM me and we can look at cutting a deal as I could use a heavier recoil spring for my Tan.

The wolff spring has less coils.

wolff: 33 coils
Factory: 35 coils

When I did the spring change on my 85, I compressed the new Wolfe spring on a rod for 24 hours. It took on a slight set at the same length as the factory and has fit and worked perfectly since. Just something that you might want to try before doing anything more drastic.

That must be a 9mm? I just put a Wolff spring on my CZ-75b .40 cal and it fit fine. I think it was a bit shorter than the stock spring actually. The .40 has a full length metal guide rod, and actually with both the stock and Wolff springs I can hear it scraping internally.

Can you upgrade the 9mm to a full length guide rod?

I hate to be a fly in the oitment but that spring cannot be for a 75B it simply is to long. I would check with Wolf. I replaced my springs in my CZ 85 and the recoil spring was no way that long. I will bet you that spring is for there 5" gun they now make.

That is the correct spring. It is unfortunate Wolff doesn't make a shorter but larger guage spring with more coils. When I received my spring I thought there must have been a mistake so I called Wolff. They said it is indeed the correct spring and in fact Mike @ CZ uses these springs as his factory warranty replacement springs when doing repairs. This made me a bit more at ease but I asked them why they didn't make one that was shorter and wouldn't snake and asked if cutting a few coils would be kosher. He said cutting coils would just reduce the pound rating of the spring so... don't. He said eventually they will make a shorter spring for the 75b/85b but that is a long way off. My recoil spring has about 250 rounds through it and has worked fine, however, there are some scratches on the bottom of my barrel now. Come on Wolff, make a shorter spring.

You have the correct spring! Put it on, forget about it!

Absolutely correct. Install the spring, let it sit in the gun for a while and it will be fine. My Wolff spring works great in my 75B.

thanks, Squiggy.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these are the correct springs. I have confidence in wolff.

the tech guy at wolff is gone until monday. I'll load the wolff spring into the gun , let it sit for 24 hours, and see if it compresses

I experienced the same thing when I installed a Wolff 18.5# spring in a Browning Hi-Power. Just didn't look right and I had to force it a bit but it works fine now.

Put it in

It only looks too big now. It will eventually compress.

If you want to speed the set of the spring you may try leaving the slide locked back for a while but that is a guess on my part. Shooting the living hell out of it should break it in too.

forgot to say

Based on my own humble experience. If I ever buy another cz I will have all the springs replaced with wolff before it goes bang once. Maybe the more modern guns are better but before I trust another CZ with my life I will put some good springs in it.

What problems have you had with the factory springs?

Not gonna hijack this thread! Nope!

If you are really interested do a search on bevrfevr, cz75, feeding, extraction, bad customer service.

This IS a thread about cz's and springs And we are all here to share our experience right.

That is all I'm doing. Until CZ does something to change my impression I am left only with my experience.

You did see the big smiley face next to my previous post, right?

AHAH! Bevr is back!

The Wolff springs offered for the CZ are really springs for the Witness clone of the CZ. They have a different diameter, as they are made for a different size (Tanfoglio) guide rod. They work fine and functionally are the equivalent of a true CZ spring.

Some folks hear noises when racking the slide -- its the spring, which has more play on the thinner CZ guide rod -- rubbing on the barrel or frame. It becomes less obvious with time, as the spring takes a set, and any wear is cosmetic. If the ill-fitting springs really give you a problem, look into the Browning Hi-Power springs, which are a close match to the factory CZ springs, and much narrower in diameter -- they fit the CZ guide rod just right. (One end is tapered, and that end should go near the receiver stop.)

I've been using BHP springs for several years with good results.

Wolff offers lighter-weight BHP models on the website... (The stock BHP spring is, I think, 18 pounds; heavier than you need in a CZ.)

My question was about CZ springs. What hijacking are you referring to.? I ask this with some trepidation, as the last question I asked you resulted in some "Un High Road behavior".

I read that thread with great interest. I agree completely with the majority of posters that CZs are a great value and that only a few of them require a new extractor spring. Sorry your experience with them wasn't good.
