Every once in a while, deals on surplus firearms still show up on the market now and then.

After looking for five to six years, I finally found one of my 'Grail Guns' - a CZ83 chambered in .32ACP for a price well below $500 (believe it or not, that is tough to find!). A shipment must have come in from eastern Europe made up of police trade-ins or something. I first saw a couple on GunBroker and bought one for myself (like I said - 5 to 6 years of looking), then started a serious search. Century Arms International showed some in stock, both Surplus Good and Surplus Very Good so I ordered several VG, only to have CAI (as they have done several times in the past) tell me a week or ten days later that my 'confirmed' order has been cancelled since the item was sold out.

I kept looking for the bigger fish who successfully placed an order with CAI and finally found a distributor who had some. I was able to order eight VG condition pistols before they were completely gone and sold them all, mostly over the internet but also locally in a small town in southern Illinois, the longest lasting about a day and a half 'for sale'. I wish I could have gotten twenty of these .32ACP CZ83 pistols - they really are in Very Good condition.

Here are some pictures of the last group before they shipped out to the buyers. It was fun taking them all out for a five shot test firing followed by a field strip and basic cleaning. Every one of the nine CZ83s ran flawlessly on inexpensive Armscor FMJ .32ACP ammo. I doubt that I will ever again see six (6) of the .32ACP CZ83s at the same time.

I bet that all-steel gun in .32 ACP is a creampuff to shoot. My friend had a CZ-82 in 9x18 Mak and it was an excellent gun by all means, I've been looking for one of my own for a while.

My CZ was the one .32 that would lock up tight due to rimlock. CZ redesigned the magazine to make them more resistant to rimlock. You can tell a new from old mag by a recessed area incorporated into the back strap side of the mag versus the old which is flat.

Other than the mag failures the .32 is a nice pistol. Mags are very hard to find.

New .32ACP CZ83 Magazines are fairly easy to find - at about $50 each!

You generally have to look long and hard to find good used surplus magazines at $30 - $35 each.

That's how I got mine. Nice guns for sure.

More recoil than one would think until they shoot one. I got my CZ 83 the same way, police trade ins from overseas. Same for my Beretta 81.
