Hey guys,
I've been searching the forum and found a wealth of information, but alas my head is spinning.

Which of the following CZ models come with ambi safety?

I'd prefer a 9mm with the baked on black finish

CZ 75B
CZ 75B Omega
CZ 75B SA
CZ 85B

Note: I am right handed but shoot long guns and bows left handed (left eye dominant), so I assume I'll naturally want to shoot a pistol with my left hand.

**Also any reason to get one over the other**

75 SA
85 B
85 Combat
75 B stainless steel (but not black or blue)

I have a 75B stainless, 85 Combat, and 97B. The 85 Combat is my favorite over the 75B due to the slightly better trigger (no firing pin block), no mag brake, adjustable over-travel, and adjustable sights. The others are fantastic guns as well, but the Combat is the way to go in this range of 75/85-series guns, IMO.

Is the 75B matte stainless worth the extra cheese over say a 85B?

It's just a different metal, so completely up to you. For years I lusted over a polished stainless, but now I put all my effort into my 97b.

Keep in mind, the 85b doesn't have a firing pin block, so if the gun hits the ground on the hammer (whether cocked or not) it could go off.

What are you looking to do with it?

It depends upon your preferences and how much the extra $100 or so means to you in the short or longer term.

If they were the same price I'm not sure which finish I'd pick, but quite possibly the black.

I do know that I'd pick the 85 Combat or another 75-based gun with adjustable sights if I wanted to shoot a variety of ammo and wanted POA to match POI. I like being able to dial in the accuracy with adjustable sights.

If it were just for HD or carry, I would be fine with the 75B style sights, might even prefer them due to the sleek compactness.

Thanks for the reply's fellas. Looks like it might be down to a 75B matte stainless or the 85B black. Outside of the difference in finish is there a difference between the two?

None of them will fire if dropped while the hammer is down. Firing pin block or not. They have an inertial firing pin. The pin is shorter than the channel and will not potrude unless hit very fast. e.g. a falling hammer.

Models without the block could possibly fire if the hammer is pushed off the sear during a fall.

I like the 85 Combat best of the 75-based guns. I have one with the satin nickel finish, and it still looks new after 15 years of use.

It does not have a firing pin block, which can potentially allow an accidental discharge if it's dropped from the right height, on the right surface, and hits just right, but is true of a lot of other guns, including many 1911s. This model can be tuned to have a great trigger more easily than FPB-equipped models -- but I've had a 75B SA that had the FPB still in place, tuned by a talented gunsmith, and you couldn't really tell the FPB was still there.

In addition to no firing pin block, the 85 Combat has:
  • An over-travel adjustable trigger which is less curved than some of the triggers.
  • An extended mag release.
  • A straight mag brake which allows mags to drop free (since incorporated into many other modessl.)
  • And an adjustable sight.
