Just wondering what to expect..........I went to another couple shows before Christmas and they were a madhouse. If this one is the same I might have to pass on gun shows for a while, till the frenzy has died down.

Unless you are willing to pay 20-50% more that what prices were in October or looking for a handgun or bolt action rifle, forget about it for the time being.

Only the higher end semi-autos (stuff >$1500) had price rises in the 0-10% range. Selection was poor as well.

I went to last weekend's GRB show in Houston, saw the long lines waiting to get in and just turned around and went home.

It wasn't so bad Sunday, but there was not much selection left.

I'm really trying to find deals on reloading stuff, like brass, primers and powder.

I went to a Dallas gun show in December and the crowd size seemed reasonable. I'm in fact looking for a bolt action rifle I'm looking forward to this one. And avoiding the AR/AK/SKS crowd. :)

Which day did you go on ChronoCube? I went on a Saturday and had to wait 30 min. to get in the front door.

I went to both Big town and Market hall. Bought guns at both, there are still deals to be had......

Deals at the gun show post November 4th?

Hrm...... maybe something other than black rifles

:)

I will be there, maybe I will get lucky and find a marlin 60 cheap, Yeah I know wishful thinking. but I can hope.

Hands down, that was the worst gun show line I've ever seen. I've been going to the Market Hall Show for over 25 years, and that line was 2-3 times longer than I've ever witnessed (I didn't make it to the Thanksgiving post-Obama show, though). It zig-zagged all the way back to the parking garage. We left a little after noon, and there was still a line half-way out into the parking lot!!

As for deals, the pistol prices all seemed at least 5-10% higher than they were back in the summer. The AK/AR prices were ridiculous. Del-Ton's and Olympic Arms AR's were going for $1100-$1200. The average price on a WASR AK was $625-$650!! Colt AR's started in the $1600-$1700 range. Saiga's (223/308) were pushing $450. I did see some CZ VZ58's for $859. I tried to get a mil-spec buffer tube for an AR from Model-1, but balked at the $45 price. I saw no real shortage of AR mags/parts/guns, merely a shortage of reasonable prices. Everybody thinks they're sitting on a gold mine!

The dealers were getting pretty savvy. With so much traffic, they didn't seem to have bargain prices on anything. I guess they figured that if you didn't buy it, there'd be at least a few thousand more people come along after you......

I think that Obama finally did close the gun show loophole......

No one can afford them anymore!

I went to our local gunshow today. It comes to town about 5 times per year and I never miss it. It was packed beyond belief and while there were more people there, the wares seemed to be less. Prices were pretty high too.

Yep Fburgtx, I was in that line around noon. Took me about an hour an a half to get in. Once you got in it wasn't bad, I did keep bumping into people, had a few gun barrels in my face. I didn't really find any deals, I got some reloading stuff and a couple SKS items, but even those wern't great deals, I could have gotten it on line about the same price just didn't have to pay shipping. I was there about four hours, I hit every vendor and every table, thought I would run across some kind of deal, didn't really.

I'm trying not to be a racist judgmental pig,but..............I saw a few characters today at the gun show that "looked" like they would NEVER pass a background check. I even over heard a conversation that went "man I would love to have that gun,but can't pass the check". Is that racist of me? Just to be an equal opportunity pig, I saw white, black and latino that "looked"suspicious......

Thanks for the heads-up folks. I have stuff to do tomorrow and at least I know I'm not missing much by not going.

Don't want to stand in line????????????

Take a gun.

The DPD officer at the entrance allows those with firearms to skip to the gun check counter without a wait.

They do this at every DMH show.

Yep dogtown tom......... they did this yesterday. I thought they just did that for PR reasons, thought they didn't want a shot a mile long line of gun toters on the news...
