any pro's and con's,as to the Razorback and or the 10mm cartridge ? I will be using it for close and longer range, 50yds., targets and don't mind carrying a 5" for self defense. Does this partictular frame have a "Beefed up" design due to the increased pressures of the 10mm ? I love my 1911's in 45acp so before I decide to take the plunge into new uncharted waters I thought I'd seek some opinions. Thanks !

Get a long slide from Bob Serva at Fusion. He invented the razorback, but his current creations are far and away a better product. At 50 yds and beyond I'd want that extra inch. The 10mm is a good choice for hunting and long range targets and the 1911 platform can handle it no problem. The only concern worth noting is ammo cost and availability. Currently Double Tap is your only viable source for ammo. Georgia arms also has a small selection but DT does it better.

I've owned a DW RZ10 for about 9 months and fired about 450 rnds thru it with no failures at all, it is a very well made 10mm. I would suggest getting a stiffer recoil spring thru Doubletap if you intend to fire their ammo. Email Mike McNett at Doubletap he's very helpful.

Yes Fusion is a NICE pistol, Bob started the company after he left DW, i wish i could afford one

Great pistol. While thin, it is heavy for carry. Has a ramped barrel and FO sight (sportsman model), which is incredible for quick target acquistion. The pistol is tight as it should be and has the weight to lessen felt recoil. For the money, it is the best 10mm pistol available and shoots with incredible accuracy. 10mm ammo is hard to find at typical retailers, so try larger store like Cabela's or online. The 10mm club is growing, but on a retail level, is not so easy to find as 45s and 357s are what most people buy. You will want to reload your brass because the ammo is expensive. Great looking pistol too!

I agree about the longer barrel. If the whole point is more energy at longer range, I would want as much as possible. I'm looking hard at the Fusion, but if I could go pick some money off the money tree, I would look at the STI Perfect 10.

I would certainly look at the DW, but I prefer the longer barrel.

I like the idea of a longer barrel, but you could also consider just buying the barrel. If you get a match grade 6" barrel and have that extra inch sticking out of a 5" slide it might look like a LAR Grizzly but it should do the job pretty well, minus the extra weight/less recoil factor. That said I have a Razorback and in the range I feel like a baaaaaaaad man with the groups I put together. I should hope so too as it's my carry piece.

I have one of the original 150 RZ's and they are a good gun. The 10mm round is really fun in a 1911 and about the limit of what the format can take in my opinion without beating the gun apart.

I would tell you it is a great choice and mine will be in my family forever.

Also if you intend to carry this bear one thing in mind since it has a Clark style rib on the top of the slide it may not fit your holsters. I had to futz around with my Blade Tech poly holster, but I my Don Hume yaqui holster does great with it. Again just something to consider because it caught me by surprise last minute and I needed to find a holster fast.
