Picked this up after hemming and hawing about it for a couple of months. Has the barrel tool, .006 gauge and the 4th front sight. No box or papers. Looking around the Dan Wesson site it doesn't appear the 14 came as a kit?
It's a shooter though. Took it to the range today with the 4" barrel and factory 158 SWC were holding the 10 ring at 20 yards. IMG_4456.jpg IMG_4455.jpg

I think that may be a 15-2 because I thought the 14 had fixed sights. They did come in "Pistol Pacs" with multiple barrels with a custom case. Look on Gunbroker. The best information is at: https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/
My understanding about the 14 and 15 differences is the 14 has fixed sights.
I spent about an hour at the DW site yesterday without to much luck. Will try again today.

That is correct. It sounds like yours might have been mismarked at your seller, so hopefully you paid for a 14... but got a 15! :)

I had a 15 for a while, it was a very nice pistol. I sold it to get a large-frame DW in .41 Magnum, which is an excellent shooter as well.

The DW forum isn't super busy... DW's being what they are... but there is some good info there as well as sources for DW parts and upgrades.

I did make them an offer I couldn't refuse........

What you have is a 15-2; the 14-2 has fixed sights. The "no-dash" models 14 and 15 had what is called a "porkchop" shroud with an extension below the barrel to secure the crane. Both the 14-2 and 15-2 were available in Pistol Packs with multiple barrels and grips. The 14-2 was considered a service or duty revolver however and very few came that way.

I've never before seen a pic of the DW barrels not installed. Now, looking at the previous pics, can someone tell me what secures the barrel into the frame?
Thanks.

LOL. That has got to be one of the best phrases re: buying a gun I've ever read!
It also works on guitars, amps, bikes, tools, classic muscle cars, small sports cars, large quantities of produce at the farm stand............. ;)

The barrel comes out of the sleeve. It's threaded on both ends. One end threads into the frame and the other end has a locking nut (barrel nut) on it. The barrel nut secures the sleeve and the barrel.

I have two 15-2’s and a .22 LR DW. It looks like got a nice set there.
If it didn’t come with a DW factory Pistol Pac case, you can make one from a Pelican or similar hard sided case with the pull-apart foam to carry the gun and spare barrels /wrench / feeler gauge, etc.

Stay safe!
