Hey good folks,
I've been thinking of picking up a Dan Wesson 15V 357 magnum snubbie. I read somewhere that the Dan Wesson's revolvers could have timing issues. What are your thoughts of the Dan Wesson 15V 357 magnums?

~Thanks, John

Haven't run across that allegation, all I can offer is my experience with 2 'small frame' Dans, unknown history.

Built like tank, extremely simple innards, way more accurate than the fool pulling the trigger, and hard to see how I'm going to wear them out before I'm worn out. Seriously nice revolvers, IMHO.

Yeah, I'm a DW 'fanboy', if that's possible when I'm this old.

the only one I've ever seen with a timing issue needed a new hand. $40 and a little fitting and it was good as new. End shake isn't generally a problem as front and rear cylinder gap are both adjustable.

Lots of bad info can be found on most any firearm. If its keep in a well maintained state it will be fine. Parts are avalible if needed too from cz and EWKarms. Grips from L B Customs. I have 4 DW revolvers from the 70"s and all still function and shoot like new. No parts replaced .Wished they looked like they shoot. The DW revolver are among the strongest you will have a chance to own.

I've owned about 9 or 10 715's and 15-2's, and shot many others. I've seen ONE that had timing issues, and it was due to the hand being chipped at the end. How that happened, I have no idea. About the only thing that has ever broken on any of my guns is the hand spring on a couple, and they were, like all my DW's, bought used. When I shoot, I always take my little box of parts for the guns I'm shooting, and I can fix anything short of a blown up gun/barrel in a few minutes, and with a DW, there's not a lot that ever needs fixing. I have tossed a few mainsprings, but that's because some idiot clipped a few turns off.

Excellent guns that will usually outshoot a Colt 'Snake' from experienced had and eye.

I love my 15. It is VERY accurate with any ammo. It was my first gun and I will never part with it. A .357 Maximum Supermag is next on my Dan Wesson want list.

Keep your eyes peeled for legendary High Standard Sentinel Mark II .357 Magnum. Very desirable Dan Wesson from great state of CT. Those have lovingly checkered grips with HS medallions and checkered back strap.

But the HS version was made with the pork chop shroud and No one makes replacements. Unlike the later model shrouds. CZ and EWKarms has parts covered.

Thanks good folks for all your info and advice, I appreciate it. The DW is still available and I'm still thinkin'.:)
