I'd been thinking about bobbing the hammer on my old but nice CA Undercover .38 Special.

I did a few google searches for Charter Arms Bobbed Hammer and one took me to the CA website. I saw there I could buy a spurless DAO hammer assembly (blue or stainless) for $24.95. I ordered one.

I put the new hammer in this morning in probably 10 minutes or less and two cups of coffee. Pie job. :)

The hammer is a true double action only one...no such thing as starting hammer back with trigger and thumb cocking.

The upside is it is now snag proof coming out of the pocket PLUS it smoothed the trigger pull up considerably.

The down side is Charter Arms charged $8.00 shipping plus the $24.95 hammer cost. It came in a small padded envelope with $1.98 postage. :scrutiny: Of course it came with no installation instructions. :banghead:

Well worth it IMO!!!, the old Charters where some of the best UC guns going in my time, hell used to carry a pair when wearing overalls

I agree with Leadbutt, my old .44 Bulldog was great for the purpose and if you got a smoother double-action pull, you could hardly have done better to suit this piece for the purpose it best serves.
