My ship date for the Navy is Dec 2nd and I was plannaing to award myself with a Bushmaster ACR when I got back from master at arms A school in March assuming they would be out as planned. Im not a political nut so will all the good stuff be banned before then??

It's highly unlikely that the new administration will be able to push a comprehensive firearms ban thru the House and Senate in their first two months of office.

Although nothing in life is guaranteed, I'm pretty comfortable that you will still be able to buy an EBR in March 2009. Whether you can *find* an ACR will be a different question, to which only time will tell.

Good luck with the Navy and yeah you'll have enough time to scrounge one of those AR's up hopefully. It's gonna take em' a little while to start banning our firearms!!

Since an age of darkness has befallen gunowners and the days ahead look pretty damn miserable, it is probably time to start buying.

I think it would be a good idea to put a nice AR on the plastic, tighten the belt during school and celebrate having it paid off by graduation.

Besides the libs will probably abolish the Navy and use the former navy budget for reparations by this time next year.

Congrats, shipmate, worry less about the EBR, you'll get one, and think more about the great journey you're about to embark on, a whole new world. Or, you could send that second paycheck home, (first one pays for your seabag and everything in it), and have a trusted family member pick it up. Trust me, you won't need the money!
Oh, yeah, learn to eat fast, and learn to love Luisiana Hot Sauce. That was the only thing in boot that let me shove that chow down in '86...if they still have it on the tables...
Have fun, learn, and a hand salute from this old sailor!

Thank you for the very kind words Armoredman! Ill do my best! Im very excited and hope to take everything I can from it. Im going to buy a few 30 rounders today I think. Thats a good idea about the sending paychecks! Im trying to get the new Sig 556 classic. Supposed to be about around dec. I may just have my parents take care of it with my paychecks while Im away. Maybe preorder one. Luckily too that particular rifle comes with two clinched 30 rounds. I was planning to get a Smith and Wesson M&P but they wont be banned any time soon so 556 it is.

Good luck and thanks for your service.

Support the RKBA organization of your choice. Write your congress critters actual letters supporting RKBA. Show up in uniform at their offices and ask for their guarantee that they'll support RKBA while you protect them.

Thank you for your service, Foxtrot427. I pray that God will keep you safe.

The incoming administration is smart enough to know that public sentiment is AGAINST any further messing with the 2A. They have many more important challenges to consider than the banning of firearms. They want to remain in power. That won't happen if they piss off a large segment of the American people. We may be surprised by how "conservative" they become once they assume the reins.

I am not suggesting gun-owners should become complacent about our rights - only that I don't believe the sky is falling.

IBTL. Flame suit now deployed!

thank you for protecting this country... i would think you still could get one then. but the new prices will be outrageous i just came from a local gunshop and their holding all of their ar's and ak's in the back so they can get more money out of them in a couple of weeks. i never really liked that shop anyways.

The last AXB took effect Sept of 1994 with clinton in office for 2 years so If one was to get passed, it will most likely mimic that time frame. I say you should be ok but I would not recommend you put getting that rifle off.

Thank you all very very much! I really appreciate your all's kindness. People here keep me from becoming a cynical hermit at the state alot of this country is in haha. I serve for people like you all!

I thought about what some of you are saying how a ban isnt going to be anything immediate. Im sure thats true. But prices are certainly my worry. Im ordering a few Pmags right now actually. Even though Im sans-EBR. But that will be taken care of hopefully with that 556 classic. As long as I dont come back to the world a totally different place.

Oh and as far as the RKBA stuff, how would you rate joining those organizations along side the NRA.

I think we should be concerned, but there is no cause for panic. The dems remember how disastrous the last ban was for their majority, so I don't think the issue will be high on their list of priorities. Add to that the fact that they were unable to get a filibuster proof majority and that there are some pro-gun Democrats. As long as we don't get complacent, there is reason to remain optimistic.

Hate to say this, and I'll probably take a lot of heat for it, but I would NOT report to Great Lakes RTC on 2 Dec. because I wouldn't trust BO, the House, and the Senate, to do anything right as it pertains to national defense and the military.

I def do not trust BO but worst come to worst I doubt the country and its military will allow things to get too bad. But god do I agree. I shudder to think of BO in the white house. Like he is a con man who snuck his way into office via the racist and ignorant voters of this country.
