These young men go out to a shooting spot. Just happens to be a spot where I go shooting every once in awhile.

After some regular blasting, our heroes decided to play Russian Roulette.

Okay, it wasn't so much that they all decided to play, but more like they decided to talk one of the group to play. After some coaxing, he put the gun to his chest and pulled the trigger.

Nothing happened.

More coaxing insued and the young hero pulled the trigger again. The gun fired, and the bullet entered his heart. He fell to the ground... and his friends did nothing.
He managed to get the cell phone out of his truck and call 911 before passing out.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It's nice to have such good friends.

The local police filed the report as a violation of gun safety or something like that. I don't know if they are going to do anything to the friends, but they are still investigating.

Hmmmmmm....

And how did the Po Po get this unlikely version of events? From the 'friends'?

Hmmmmm.....

Maybe this will sound a little, or maybe not just a little, mean. But if you put a loaded weapon to your body and pull the trigger because your friends want you to, you deserve whatever comes out of the barrel.

Although them doing nothing makes me wonder if they should be allowed to continue basic life functions, let alone hunting... or if they had something sinister in mind.

The story has to be fishy, unless of course the injured guy reported to 911 that he was playing Russian roulette. It sounds like some sort of attempted murder cover-up. How convenient. All the "friends" and deceased are already covered in gunmetal residue and so that aspect can't be used to determine if somebody other than the deceased was the shooter or if the deceased was the shooter.

I think the deceased needed better friends, regardless of what actually happened.

Well, since the guy died, I'd expect that it wouldn't be attempted anything. I do want to see if the trajectory of the bullet is impossible for a self-inflicted wound.

Had a brother that went out that way, almost...

He and a friend playing roulette, and he takes one to the head.

BTW, he'd shot since around 8 or 9 YO or so, and had done 1.5 or so years in the Army, so it wasn't an idiot mistake.

Anyway, nobody charged, and all's well with the world.

Couple of months later, wife marries friend, and out of state they go! No word on his mistress, but then, I wasn't listening by that point in time.

FWIW, if he hadn't have done it to himself, somebody else would have, and he'd have deserved it: kin doesn't make a thug any less of one.

In short, I think everybody'll walk, so long as they stick to the story, but at least society will be one up, which is, to my mind, a good thing.
