Have on order a 125 gr round nose mold (lee) for use in my Rossi 92. Going thru my manuals I see no mention of a 125 gr cast bullet. Anyone have any info or can I use jacket bullet info. Thanks.

I used jacketed info and start at the bottom.
I shoot a lot of lead bullets, mostly in cowboy (light) loads, but occasionally hot rod some, for fun.
I used 2400, 4227, 4756, 800X, Unique and Trail Boss; with good results.

Hodgdon has almost all of their faster to mid range powders listed with data for a 125 cast bullet. I believe Lyman 49th also has a 125 cast in their data.

Alliant also has 125 cast data, but only for Red Dot and Unique in their "cowboy" section. I did not check their regular .38 data.

Which powders do you have available? Are you planning to use .357 or .38 brass?

Since you're working with a carbine-length barrel, take a look at .357Magnum data for the Super-16 or Super-14 Contender starting loads. Stick to mid-to-long burn powders. Unique and slower should do you right in a lever-carbine.
The Complete Reloading Manual for T/C Vol. 2 lists the 121gr. cast.

These were tested in a 10" T/C barrel, 1:18" twist, and CCI 550 primers but there's no real reason to use SPMP with either Unique or 2400.

Thanks for all the replies. My mold should be here tomorrow. Just wish it was warmer as I cast on my little shed.

I think you're going to really like that bullet.

I have a nice load with that bullet (powder coated) and Titegroup (only load I use that powder for) for an old Ruger Security Six and a S&W 642 and I'm currently in the market for a .357 lever rifle that I am hoping that bullet will shoot well through.

My only problem is that I bought the double cavity, I really wish I would've got the 6 banger!

I thought of the six cavity but for an old man a double will work. I had a Henry in 38/357 and a Rossi. I still have the Rossi still. Lol

Silly question. Do you think there is much muzzle velocity between the round nose and the round flat nose bullets.

I have shot a lot of the Berrys bullets plated 125 gr using the Hodgdon loading data online. Makes a nice load. I have shot round and flat and HP and see no essential difference in how they shoot. I do not measure velocity.

I am in need of reloading data for a 38-125gr cast bullet too. The load data I've collected is 3.6gr-4.4gr BE and 7.2-7.8 AA5. Zip is close to AA2 so the load data is 3.8-4.7AA2

Consider if your not downloading or using minimum loads your chance of leading or some other mishap is probable.... the pressure and velocity are going to be insane in 357 but 38 will be easy day...
