Dating my S&W Model 10

I have a pre Model 10 and I was told that S&W didn't put model numbers in the crane until after 1957. Mine has a number 8 where the model number would be on later Smith's. Serial number C321XXX makes it about 1955-56, I think. It has a 2" barrel, shoots good with .38 Specials 125 gn XTPs. I don't use +P and usually carry it as a backup gun when hunting.

I have a model 10 and love it! Welcome Jenny! Love that gun. I saw one at the local gun shop for a decent but not great price that is earlier like yours than mine is and might pick it up. Mine is from 1979 or so and is a 10-8.
