Another Remington 1100 dating question here.... My 1100 has (4) letters printed on the LH side of the barrel, vice the (2) or (3) letters I'm told to expect. I'm pretty sure it's stamped "AWNE".
Using the site (http://guncollectionsonline.com/remington1100.htm), I could decode this a few ways:
"AW" = March 1972
"WN" = August 1966
"NE" = invalid month
Any suggestions as to how to interpret the 4-letter date code? If it helps, the S/N is 312***V.
