DC Homicides hit a 43 year LOW

No one is arming up in DC like you wish they are.

The post-Heller laws are still ridiculous and essentially an all-out ban. Gun laws are having a minimal, if none at all, impact on DC's crime rate.

For example, there's still only 1 FFL in all of D.C. He does not sell guns, only transfers at $125 a pop.

To register a single gun still takes multiple visits to a police station, and costs nearly eight hundred to a thousand dollars. The process includes mandatory training, having the police inspect and fire the gun, multiple appointments for fingerprints and interviews, etc. It makes California look fun.

Since a lot of the gang bangers can't read, maybe it's the perception of more armed citizens out there now that's detered them.

That seems less likely than people not understanding that empirically observed covariation is a necessary but not sufficient condition for causality.

Three negatives + abstract concepts? This sentence is phrased oddly. It sounds like you are saying:

"gangsters reading hearing/reading about the largest gun purchasing spree in history"

is less likely than:

"gangsters believe that more guns = less crime and they are scared."

Is that true?

Alright, I give. What does this say?

Is that true?
Nope. I'm simply saying the premise that murders have gone down this year is due to Heller despite the strict registration laws is because gang members can't read and don't know any better seems rather far-fetched and that is much more likely that the people who believe Heller is the reason for said drop aren't differentiating between correlation and causation.

I'm glad wishin asked, I was baffled.

Next time just tell us correlation ≠ causation. Saves my head some hurtin'.:)

Thank you Mr. Spock ....... :p

Seriously though I agree; other factors are involved than Heller.

Jorg,
You should run for Congress.

Could be that the thugs have realized that there's nothing left worth stealing in DC

I think you are correct - the politicians have already taken eveything that's worth anything.

Ok, now that we're all perfectly clear on empirically observed covariation:rolleyes:, does anyone have any idea what can be attributed to the 23% drop in homicides compared to 2008? There was never any doubt that the gang banger's reading ability really played any part in the reduction. It's not surprising that the police chief said "community help and the work of her officers helped contribute to the low numbers"........
