I have a 28" White Onyx in 12 Gauge, and it's about ideal for upland birds and Skeet, but a little too quick and light for Sporting Clays. However, I don't have 2 or 3 grand burning a hole in my pocket right now, so I can't just go grab a Silver Pigeon III for Sporting.
So, I tried a sub-$100 solution. It involves no modifications to the gun, and it works great. I finally tried it out last night at the range.
CDNN has 2" extended MobilChokes for $13-15 a choke.

I got two IC, two M, one IM and one F. They add 2" and about 4 oz. (average) to the barrel at the muzzle end. The tighter constrictions are slightly heavier, the more open a bit lighter, which actually works out well anyway.
The added 4 oz. and 2" slows down and smooths out the swing beautifully. The chokes are blued, so they aren't distracting to the shooter.
If you have a whippy Beretta O/U or a 26" Benelli, or some other gun that takes MobilChokes, I highly recommend this if you want to adapt the gun to have more swing weight.
