and calmly went continued his speech. He wasn't screaming in agony, he didn't fall to his knees or anything. He acted like nothing happened! It really makes me wonder about the take down power of that 40 cal... Comments?

This is fairly old news.

He shot himself in the foot. I'm not a doctor, but i'd imagine there are not many vital organs or major blood vessels there.:D

Anyways, he was limping pretty bad and the video was only a minute or two long. Shock probably had not set in, plus he was probably still in a little bit of a daze.

yeah but had to hurt like hell. not to mention he was teaching a class on gun saftey at a school. he acted like it was no big deal and all the kids were freaked out. now he is trying to sue the gov. only in america!

If it had been a .45 he would have died on the spot. Duh.

Edited to add: Squire, you've got to have the lowest post ratio of any THR member I've ever seen. How often do you visit the site?

I know it's old news, but with all the talk about it again in the press, I learned that he shot himself in the thigh, not in the foot. See below.
This brings me back to my original comment about the takedown power of a 40 cal round...

"The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency is investigating an Orlando, Fla., agent who shot himself in the leg while conducting a gun safety class for children.
The unidentified agent was conducting the class at a the Callahan Center when he suffered the wound in the thigh, the Orlando Sentinel reported."

Devonai I go in cycles... sometimes on the site daily for weeks. Other times I may not visit for 5-6 months. I read more than I post.

This here's a Glock Fotie and will blow your ...

Hey, poor shot placement with a "Glock fotie" is still poor shot placement. :D

Seriously, good thing it wasn't a 10mm G20. :scrutiny:

They'd have been hard pressed to even find the lower half of his torso. :what:

:neener:

:D

I have shot hogs with 40 S&W...

and I KNOW what that caliber is capable of. Good thing he did not shoot himself with a 45 ACP, would have killed him on the spot. But then again, if he shot himself with a 9mm, a bandaid would have cured him.......duh.......chris3

I don't think you can judge the "ineffectiveness" of the cartridge/weapon combo based on the reaction of someone who probably experienced a "flesh wound." I don't know if a glancing blow from a .500 S&W would have produced a different reaction.

This is a sad story.

everyone thinks he is an idiot

So wait...

Does that mean that I can sue my employer because my face appears on the company web site, and now everyone thinks I have hair?

Gent's even .45s

have issues. In 1992 I walked into a room where a friend had an AD 6' from me with a 230 XTP and I was in the way. Lost 5" of femur in a split second and had a steel insert for 12 years..

I caught it square. It hurt BAD, but it was not my day to die. On the other hand, my cousin's friend dropped his .22 rifle going over a fence, caught it under a rib and died on the spot.

It is all about shot placement. .. oh, and whether it is your day to die.

Plain;)

Might? :scrutiny:

I'd be openly hostile, and looking for something to shoot back with... Most likely would take my "friends" gun away from him and let him see what it feels like, even.

As for the DEA idiot... *shrug* What more can really be said? He's not too bright, and there's video evidence to prove it. The lawsuit only cinches it.
Case closed.

He has been in the news again lately because he is sueing the DEA. He claims they released the video and now everyone thinks he is an idiot.

He is an Idiot.

Now his lawsuit confirms beyond a doubt that he's an idiot. The last thing you want to do is publically call attention to something that was clearly your fault, in the national media, when your prima facia problem is that your idiocy was filmed and received national attention. Now everyone who missed his initial act of stupidity will know about it.

If there was a lawsuit to be filed it should be against the agent and the DEA for recklessly endangering a classroom full of children.

This lawsuit would be the equivalent of a drunk driver hitting YOU with his car and then sueing YOU for putting a dent in his bumper.

yeah this guy was talking about how professional he was and everything right before the glock 22 discharged.now he is sueing the dea for his MESS up thats so not professional or good ethic. Its people like that that screw it up for all of us.Next he is going to become a anti-gun activist saying that glocks need to have a manual safety and that we should only be allowed to put 10 rounds of ammo in our guns. This is america take responsibility for yourself pal dont screw it up for all of us with your screw ups. thank you!

No better teaching tool than an example...of what not to do!

"I am the only one professional enough in this room to..." BOOM.

Here's your sign.

Just saw him on O'Reilly

Just saw him on O'Reilly. He said he shot himself in the upper thigh. The bullet hit the cartridge he had removed from the chamber that was in his pocket and deflected, just missing his femoral artery... He was very lucky!
O'Reilly said anybody that anyone that would make fun of this guy is a JERK!

Guess I'm a jerk! :D

He just appeared on Bill O'Reilly with his attorney. He shot himself in his left thigh, saying that he had a .40 round in his pocket which actually deflected the fired round making the wound not as bad as it could have been.

Is it just me, or does this guy seem cocky up there "teaching" gun safety?

I think that he is a bad example of a LEO not only in his actions, but in his physical appearance. Isn't there any professionalism anywhere anymore?
