This is not necessarily reloading oriented, but since my extended family unit resides here in the reloading section, I wanted to share this with everyone.

LOOK----> :what: MY FFL LICENSE SHOWED UP IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!!!!!

:D I am now a bona fide gunrunner! :D

YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAWWW!

:D

Be sure to get some business cards printed up that say "Griz44 - Gunrunner." ;)

(Jeez, it's almost worth getting an 01 FFL just for that!)

Wow! This post made me check and the 30 dollar charge hit my account last night from the ATF licensing center. I am getting closer.

How long did it take to get your license? I mailed my app on the 23rd of June.

FFL license

Had my license sinse 1990. Thought Bill Clinton's crew was bad. I've been waiting for my renewal for six months. Called BATFE and they put me off, claim they'er busy. What I'm getting at here is the BATFE wants less FFL dealers. You're lucky they approved you, WHAT ABOUT NEXT TIME.

I do hope it is as smooth as the initial application. The local field office is staffed with very nice and helpful folks. The agent assigned to me is an outdoor enthusiast and an avid hunter as well. She came to my house for the interview and training session, was absolutely delightful and very professional in all respects, and very down to earth and reasonable. They have a list of criteria they look for, and if you mind your business properly, there seems to be no hassles at all. I found out we hunt in many of the same areas. We talked about getting a group together, locals and ATF agents, and doing a group dove hunt this year. That all seems to be working up to a great relationship with them. So far, they are some of the nicest folks I have had to deal with. I got a lot more hassle from the local PD, because you also have to get permission from them to open a shop.

My experiences with my ATF dude have been the same. Very good, very professional, and mine owns a MP5-10mm!

I have a chick coming to my place next week for a compliance visit for the new FFL I got. Seems to be the same as the other dude. We'll see.

In dealing with the ATF: be polite, be professional, but don't f-ing trust them one bit. Be a skeptic about everything. Get everything in writing.
