Here is why we have firearms in our home, why my wife and I have conceal carry licenses, why gun free zones aid and abet the criminals and why you should be focusing on crime control, mental health issues and not gun control:

No amount of gun legislation will stop a thug from gaining entrance to a home and terrorize those inside. I refuse to become a victim just like you refuse to be a victim by having armed security guards a few feet away from you. If you have a right to defend yourself then why can't I defend myself and my family----our government clearly cannot protect individual citizens and your solution is to put handcuffs on the law-abiding to weaken them in the eyes of the ever present predators.

Self defense has been a fundamental human right since the origins of civilization. Our founding fathers codified this right in the Second Amendment and quite frankly they thought more of our rights than you. Please don't forget the SA is just that---A Right---not a privilege.

When the SA was put into writing, our Founding Fathers wanted the good guys to have access to the same weapons as the the bad guys. We need to keep that balance today, the law abiding still need access to the same weapons that the thugs and mentally deranged will use against us.

Unfortunately, Feinstein is ruled by emotion, having been a witness at Harvey Milk's murder and forever scarred by it. She won't be impressed by the link you gave.

You have to understand, she doesn't care what you want or need. As Rahm Emanuel said "never let a good crisis go to waste."

After we see just exactly what her AWB entails, the letter writing begins in January.

Maybe someone should mention to dear Dianne, that if her wonderful idea comes to pass there will be unintended consequences. The firearms industry in this country pays quite a bit to the government in taxes, not to mention all the people who are employed in the industry also pay taxes. No point in cutting guaranteed income during a tough economic times is there? While the old bat, certainly hates the idea of anyone owning firearms maybe it should be put out to everyone else, especially those that might be riding the fence of the actual negative economic downside to her great idea.

Some readers here obviously do not understand the perspective of Sen. Feinstein and others like her. She does not trust the common people and that is why she does not want us to have guns. She believes she is a superior being, and therefore deserving of special protection from us. Her armed guards will protect her and her family, which she believes is proper, while we can fight among ourselves as the savages she thinks we are. As long as the savages lack the ability to hurt her, she is happy. For some people wealth makes them feel superior to others, as if having money has made them a separate and better species. For others, reaching high political office confirms their self image as superior beings. For many years I have used politician's stand on 2nd Amendment issues as a litmus test of whether or not they trust "the people" that they supposedly serve. Those who oppose the 2A clearly do not trust the American people and therefore are undeserving of my vote or support.
