wow that is scary.

rule of thumb treat it like cutting wood. "measure twice cut once"

Or check to make sure it is unloaded Twice. then pack it. When loading it back up at the range. Check it twice. then load it up once.

When going to clean check to make sure its unloaded twice. then clean good once.

Like I've said before, I'm not the biggest stickler on the rules, but it is pretty amazing how many people are forgetting to or making a mistake when clearing their guns.

Everyone needs to get in the habit of being thorough. I don't get anal retentative about it and I don't think I'm abnormal in how I check my gun. Remove magazine, work the slide 3 or so times. Lock the slide back, visually inspect the chamber, physically inspect the chamber. Close the slide.

Normally don't transport it with a magazine in, at least not a loaded one. (California).

darwin's theory at play. forgive me for not being more sympathetic. that's a damn good range to shoot at and i hope it doesn't get bad publicity from this.

They said he was trying to get it out of his truck. Who knows what could of happened.. I feel for his family .. I can't imagine a loss at this time of the year .. Tragic

self inflicted gunshot wounds are tragic but preventable. How many police have been shot while cleaning their service weapons?
I work for a medium sized city in Ohio as a facility maintenance electrician and I was called by the police dispatcher to come and look at their rolodex machine, a monster of a machine that stored information on cards before computers, it was 10' long 5' high and 4' deep and it didn't work. It didn't take long for me to see a hole the size of a dime in the control panel. Sure enough one of the cops was flirting with the dispatcher and was messing with his gun and shot the rolodex. I was asked not to make a big deal out of it and I asked " what are you going to do about the hole?". I found out later that the dispatcher put a DARE sticker over the hole.

We had a suicide at an indoor range here

Man kills self at College Station gun range

By ARENA WELCH

A 76-year-old paraplegic fatally shot himself inside a College Station shooting range Wednesday morning, authorities said.

College Station police said Robert Wilson's death at Champion Firearms on South Texas Avenue was caught on the range's surveillance footage around 11 a.m.

An accidental shooting at George Bush Park? Has anybody been keeping tabs on Cheney's whereabouts?

Kidding, kidding. My thoughts go out to the man's family, but Darwin is a cruel teacher, and the lesson is often permanent.
