A local shop has 2 used rifles that I'm interested. One is a Savage 99 in 300 Savage for $325. The other is a sporterized Spingfield 1903A3 for $275. Both are beautiful rifles.
Pluses for the Savage 99:
  • No longer made. This means it will probably go up in value.
  • I would need to buy new reloading dies.
  • My wife loves it. (This could also be a minus, she might take it.)

Pluses for the sporterized Springfield:
  • I love 30.06
  • I already have the reloading dies.
  • It is a bolt action. I sold my last bolt action and don't have one in my collection.

Which should I get? Don't you just hate having to make decisions like this.

Buy the Savage (your wife will be happy),,,,,

put the Springfield on Layaway (you will be happy),,,

Everyone is Happy now!!! :D

Check the bore carefully on the Savage 99 and the stock for cracks by the upper tang. Also, is it a pre-'61 or post-'61?

Are you looking at the one in Gunmasters or the one in pawnshop across from The Bullet Trap?

+1 for Arkie. You don't really need to eat this week, it'll make you tougher when you go to the range.
