Here is the first deer I seen this year. It's been a slooow year for me. He has 4 pionts on one side and a little spike on the other I'd say his is 3 looking at the teeth. I got him with my Marlin 1895GS the bullet is a hand cast 464gr flat tip, miplat is .35. The case in the pic is a 30-06:what:http://

Other than the little holes in the neck and ribs all most no meat loss. The chest was full of blood and I missed the heart, but I did cut all the arterys on the top of the heart. I pulled my shot a little to the right when I shot, he came out on the wrong side. I had to stand up and turn 180deg to get the shot off. I can shoot left handed just don't like doing it. He was about 40 to 50 yds away from me. He ran about 40yds and droped. It takes about 15 to 20 min to walk in to the woods but that day it took an hour to walk out. But was well worth it:D

DRDAVIS a hall monitor no I wasn't. But I was an combat MP in the Army. And a expert on all small arms:neener:. I love the Army and if my knees didn't go bad I would go back in a today if they would have me.

And way too hot... By the way I used wheel weights to cast these bullet.

No! No!
tcrocker, I wasn't talking to you! It just seemed that Bodo was worried about where (what state) you shot that deer. Like you should NOT have done it. I say good job, brother!!!

It appears to me he just wanted to know what state the deer was from and not trying to imply the deer should not have been shot.

People often seem to post responses after just a cursory glance at a post.

I noticed you said you were north of Montgomery. I hunted for many a year in Hale and Bib counties. I am an old Bama boy myself. I live in Franklin county Alabama myself.

:):)Mr. Quick.
I like the name (Byron) that is my name by the way!!!:)

Maybe I was just going off a little. I am new here and don't want to start anything. It just seems that several folks get bent out of shape if a deer isn't a big old monster. I just like to see folks hunting and bustin deer as tcrocker did. I have been hunting and handloading for years and glad to see folks taking deer this way. All is well.:)

First Thank You for your Service, second nice shooting. You gotta love deer meat in the freezer.
