I have a few questions about my sig 226 9mm

What is better black hills 9mm 115 or the Gold dot? Does anyone have any experiance with either of these brands?

Should I have 115 grain or 124 grains, I noticed that the nyc pd likes the 124 grain and uses that for standard issue although many people and pds like the 115 grain. Also I have noticed that anything bigger like a 147 grain is less than ideal.

Do I need +P or am I ok with standard ammo?

The gun is a sig 226 that I carry and use as a home defense weapon.

Thank you for all of your help, I have learned a lot about firearms from everyone out there.

the 124 gold dot in 9mm & 230 in .45 CAP work fine for me, priced right, and on several top online sites..black hills gets good reviews but is not an on the shelf item in many stores / online sites.

both guns are used for self/home defense and I feel very confident they will perform as expected.

do a search..there are many reviews of 124 ammo in all varieties & brands

you cant do much better than the gold dot.

I've used 124 Gr +P Gold Dots (from Speer and Georgia Arms) in pretty much every 9mm I've ever owned and I can't remember a single instance in which they weren't reasonably accurate and reliable. Most sources, even those which generally disagree on EVERYTHING, seem to find they are consistantly good performers. That works for me. I like the Rangers in 9mm and 45ACP but in 9mm, I think the Rangers and Gold Dots are just about equal unless one is wanting the 147 grain weight.

+P pr standard pressure is a personal call. In modern arms including the 226, I prefer a +P. You want a 9mm to expand and the faster it's going, the better chance it has of expanding properly.
