I never saw it coming. Regular day, got off early from work, thought I'd stop down to my LGS to see if they had small rifle primers in stock. Had my CCW with me but was not prepared for what happened.
To get an understanding, I have to tell you about my car. I drive an older Jeep Liberty, lot of miles, faded paint, but overall good working order...most of the time. I want a new vehicle, but i can't seem to find one that's a similar size to the Liberty that has the towing capacity and off road capability at a price i can afford. Much like my CCW, Taurus TCP, it's old, finish worn...but it's the right size, fits my hand and carry method and it works...as long as i feed it only what it likes. I'd like a new CCW, but can't seem to find one that size, with a SS slide, at a price I can afford.
Well that's what happened at my LGS today, talking to a buddy of mine who works there...all of a sudden I was standing in front of a new Springfield 911. Was not planning to get a new piece today, but it fit me perfectly. Completely caught off guard. My memory gets a little hazy...it all happened so fast, but the next thing I know I'm walking out with a beautiful new CCW.....and extra mags.
Be careful out there guys...always be alert. Or you too may have to be explaining to your wife why you absolutely, positively had to bring home a new gun today:D 20180522_225020.jpg

I'll post a range report as soon as i finish cleaning the garage, washing my wife's car and installing a new backsplash in the kitchen

Just a few chores...small price to pay for a new CCW that fits you like a glove. Enjoy!

I can't go anywhere near my LGS right now. They just got in a load of Blue Label G19 Gen5's, 425 out the door. If I hadn't just bought the 2.0 Compact, I would have been all over that like white on rice!

Nice! It's even worse when you work at the LGS, and can charge them against your work. It's a wonder I ever got a paycheck from any of the gunshops I worked at.....

My LGS recently put in a huge expansion with an indoor range and hired about fifteen part-time people. I don't think their payroll actually went up any, but they sell a lot more items at their cost...

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. BUT I can help you out. PM me for my FFL's shipping address :)

BTW, Looks great!

so please pack it carefully :)

Just as one should NEVER going into a grocery store hungry - in fact, you should be full to the point of nausea....

One should never enter a gun shop without first injuring one's shooting hand in some temporary though significant manner.

Me? I slap a cactus or bougainvillea on the way in just to keep impulses at bay.

I was going to suggest hitting your hand with a ball peen hammer but your way is also pretty good...

Pretty gun, but it has that dumb manual safety and is SAO.
If I didn't have the experience with the 1911 platform, I'd be inclined to agree with you. But I have fallen in love with the single action trigger, and the thumb safety is second nature now. Double action is good, but the trigger on that 911 is fan-freaking-tastic. Short take up, and has that classic glass rod breaking feel on the hammer fall, and a short reset. Thumb safety is a small price to pay for that trigger, IMHO

The only thing that counts is if your happy with it.
My problem with my LGS is that when I walk in I'm always greeted by name and a smile and I sometimes see $ in their eyes. Then it begins, the nice shiny things under the glass, like a beer joint on a Saturday night at closing time, beckon me, whisper to me and want me to pick them up and take them home. The temptation is sometimes hard to shake and the LGS guys know my weakness and prey on that.
Small admission. I haven't been to a beer "joint" in probably 25 years.

Well, it IS a copy/clone/derivative of the Colt Mustang, same as the SIG P238 and Kimber Micro......nothing wrong with that, though as they are all dandy pocket guns and that button-detent safety is very positive to actuate, making cocked and locked carry as safe as it can be......

A fine weapon if you train with it, as anyone should with a carry gun.:)

Precisely my point. IMO, for a CCW gun you don't want that light crisp trigger and the fewer the controls, the better. Don't get me wrong, I really like 1911s(I own 3 of them), they are great shooters, great triggers, and enjoyable to shoot. I have an LCP, it is the worst gun to shoot, really heavy trigger and after about 20 rounds it makes my hand sting. The upsides with the LCP are concealability and it has been 100% reliable. This is all just my opinion.

When I enlisted Air Force my in '77 my first supervisor had an FFL - sob was always bringing something new to work with him to show me. Like a first run AMT Hardballer .45, S&W 57 (I bought two), Colt Trooper, Star PD, etc etc etc. I never had money for anything else, but I sure aquired some guns!

Congrats!

So....I may have snuck out before ALL my chores were done;) But here's what that little guy did at 15 yards. Inside of 10 yards it just tore a ragged hole about 2" across. The trigger was not as light as I expected, probably 6ish lbs, but clean break I the same place every time. I am a happy camper:D

Congrats! Happy to read of others finds and nice shooting! I've avoided the LGS and removed the safety course card out of my wallet so that I can't be tempted to buy. :( Far to easy to come into a temptation. ;)
