I have been going to the gun range semi regulatory for years now and just gotnmy ccw liesence besides that I had no formal training. A range buddy of mine and I havd been talking about Gunsight. Its very expensive and far away. Does anyone know of anything where I dont have to drive for 20+ hours?

Rangemaster in Memphis, TN.

Edited to say:
I'm sure there are some good places in your area - but I'm not familiar with them. I do know that Tom Givens and Rangemaster are excellent and they are relatively close to you.

Check with the Bench Rest Club of St. Louis (located near Wright City) and see if they have anything scheduled yet for this year.

If you can manage to be away for three days at a time plus driving, try Rangemaster (Memphis) when MAG-20 is scheduled.

It's nearly 20 hours for you...lol.... but the LGS here in Wichita KS(BulletStop) does a 4 part series on defensive pistol.

I'm going to put in another vote for Rangemaster as well. And after getting some basic training and getting more familiar with the combative drawstroke, I can't recommend Shivwork's ECQC course enough. It's offered in different locations around the country.

Here's a partial list ... (gotta make time to work on that some more)

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=396584

All I can say is the Michigan portion of that list needs some updating. Some of those schools aren't even open any longer I believe. In addition, there are quite a few excellent schools not on the list. Do you guys take recommendations on updating lists for specific states?

...and if you have a 1911 that you believe to be reliable, you can take him up on his challenge to complete his course without a failure. If you can do that, he's coover the cost of the course.

Call to see if his offer is still in effect
