An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by his intended victim Thursday night in south DeKalb County, police said.

Ronald Johnson, his wife and two children, ages 4 and 16, were returning to their Stardust Circle home shortly before 9 p.m. when "he noticed two men standing at the bottom of his driveway by a fence," DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

Yep, sounds like the attacked fellow did this by the numbers. Thoroughly defended himself and his family when confronted with deadly force, did not pursue once the threat was removed, contacted police immediately after, stayed secure in the house.

I'd like to know more about the specifics and tactics of the confrontation but the story is kinda thin in that regard; i.e. where did he have the weapon, when did he draw his weapon, when did he perceive the threat, what was the make and model of his gun, how many shots fired, was he in the car or outside, etc. etc. I'd also be curious to know if he spoke to the police with or without an attorney present.
