I getting my dad his first AR for Christmas and was looking at getting him a mid-length kit from Del-Ton, how does Del-ton compare to DSC/J&T Distributing?
I know their not BCM or Daniel Defense or the other top quality AR companies, but I've heard good things about them and just want to make sure.

My first two builds were Del-Ton midlength HBARs. Reliable, made well enough, and accurate--talking to the guy who bought the second one from me, he was able to hit a 4" gong at 300 yards with 22/30 rounds. :)

If I didn't have another "no expense spared super-rifle" project going on, I wouldn't hesitate to go with Del-Ton again, and this is coming from someone who has $3000 wrapped up in an AR he's never even taken shooting. :D

DTI compares well to J&T; both are very good quality.

Per a recent email reply from DTI, all their .223 barrels are now chrome-moly vanadium steel, a step above regular 4140. They have also improved the specs of some other parts, particularly the bolts.

My friend has a Mid length upper from them. Looks like a well put together piece of machinery. Runs like a sewing machine too. Haven't been able to test accuracy yet, but it looks promising. For a budget/first build, you will be pleased.

My first AR was a Del-Ton 16" complete carry handle rifle. I think it compares with my CMMGs and Bushmasters. I certainly have a soft spot for it was my first. Only have 500 rounds through it but it has been a solid rifle for me.

No issues at all with my Del-Ton. Buy with confidence. They are the biggest bang for your buck in my view.
