Delay's with Midway?

I remember once it took an extra day for my Midway order to arrive. (versus the consistent next-day delivery to Wichita)

Mine is scheduled to arrive today (it was originally scheduled for next monday) so it looks like I'll get to start reloading this weekend. A week and a day from date of order, that's par for Midway with the standard shipping option.
I think there was some weather issues last week or the week before which may have been what caused your delay.

I put in an order a few days ago. Shipped out and I had a tracking # within a day. I was impressed. Shipped Monday evening, got it yesterday (Thurs) afternoon.

I would put my money on the weather. While the items you order my show shipped on the email, it's up to the Carrier to get it from Missouri to your door. If you order an item or 30, and you check with your local weather babe on TV or the web and it shows a winter storm hovering for days, you should expect a few days delay before it arrives for your to put paws on. This has happened several times in the past 8 weeks with some really nasty storms passing through. So be patient and know that Larry is doing everything he can to get your items to you as fast as possible, which in my experience is pretty dog gone fast!

Another tip I found to be helpful with out of stock items. Go ahead and order it if the option "ok to backorder" is present. Then, when the stock comes in, they take care of the backorders before they put stock in the warehouse for new orders. And I've seen times that I've ordered an item and it was backordered and I was notified within days that it was in and being shipped to me. However when I checked the stock again, it still showed out of stock. If you just wait, or even with the notification alert, to order, you may miss several opportunities to get your item shipped to you!

I hate it when that happens (if you put it in your "notify me" list)!!!
You'll see something like "expected in stock 3/3" then when 3/3 rolls around you check on it again and "expected in stock 4/3" because the shipment that just arrived all went out to backorders. Oh well, that's the price of being indecisive :)

Are most of you ordering by computer or are you talking to a service rep? I always talk to a human when placing an order... they seem to know stuff that is not shown on the computer screen.

No bad experiences with Midway here, I love'em.

FWIW - and not to hijack a thread, but I deal with several suppliers of accessories, some on a wholesale level, and they are telling me that since January the orders are just flowing in, and I now have stuff on back order that hasn't been back ordered in a year. So it may just be a back log. I wouldn't have thought it, but it may be that another panic buying situation is building. I wouldn't be concerned except that it is more than one supplier. Like most of us here I was of the opinion that it the great panic buy of 09/10 was over, but...

Just food for thought.

I quit buying from Midway when the shipping prices got way out of hand. My 14 year old daughter started shooting trap 2 years ago and I would always order from Midway before then. I got online to order a bag of RXP20 wads and the shipping was more than the wads cost. Called Cabelas and bought through them instead. Their shipping was around 5.00 for a bag of wads and Midway wanted 15.00 to ship plus a 3.00 handling fee. I have not placed an order from them since and never will again. I used to buy about 200.00 per month from them.

I worked on an order not long ago. Was all ready to do it but the rep said they charged an extra $10.00 just because I was sending a personal check. The extra $10 then pushed my shipping cost up $4.00.

Seems odd. Went to Wal-mart...handed them a check. They run it through an electronic transfer machine, handed me the check, off we went. As big as Midway is...and they can't have an electronic unit like that?

So, I'm looking at the local reloading shops. I'll find the stuff in a day or two.

I ordered a magpul case for my iphone and some cleaning supplies yesterday at 11:01 am 03/08/2011. According to UPS my package will arrive by the end of business tomorrow 03/09/2011. Cant complain about that at all.

Last Thursday evening I put in an order on one of their range bags, the package was on my door step the following Tuesday. I don't see how they could have been any faster.

I haven't noticed any delay at all. Order placed mid-day 3/7 and UPS tracking has it scheduled for delivery tomorrow 3/10. Not bad at all.

I ordered monday afternoon 12 small items ,got them all today by us mail service. Not for dealing with the mail. It takes that long for a regular darn letter to get here.
If some don't like the way they do business there are other companies out there to try. Just watched a show this weekend on there business and it's up to somewhere around 250+ people. Surely some thing will go wrong once in a while and I'm sure they try to fix it. ask for a check your tracking numbers is see who really screwed up. To many folks today want something yesterday and can't deal with a problem. I deal with them, natchez and brownel for parts, georgia arms for ammo and so far have not had any delays from any of them. Just get suprised sometimes when it comes quicker than they said or I except like the order i just recieved. More than I can say ordering some thing local at times.
