Yes, they ARE ugly, but after putting one on my 642, I am now better able to exercise better control and put my shots in a smaller targets area.

You DO need to have deeper pockets if you pocket carry your gun like I do, but these grips work as advertised.

Sooooooooooo, if you can get past the looks (I own a Beretta "smurf gun so that was easy), and you are having trouble getting a good comfy grip on the stock Hogues that come on the J frame, you might want to give these a try.

I have not tries their other products like the grips for ARs or 1911s, but they also might be worth a look-see.

I find a set of the S&W dymondwood magnas and a Tyler T work very, very well to control recoil and are compact and don't print.

I might have to try these grips, but not in this lifetime. ;)

Haven't been able to find a Tyler T grip and have heard some not so reassuring comments about them since the owner passed.

I ordered a T-grip from Tyler mfg last August 21st for my model 36, I got it on December 2nd. It seems well made, the gun feels much better in the hand and I shoot it better. I called twice during the 3+ month wait and my calls were returned promptly and they were courteous and apologetic. I expected it to take a while based on what I'd read online but after 2 months I was beginning to worry so I called and was told they had moved their manufacturing, were behind on production, and it was 2 weeks out. I called again 3 weeks later and was told they'd had some issues but he promised it would be done and sent out the next week. I got it about a week and a half later.

So, all in all it was a fairly positive experience, with the only negative being the long wait.

I tried one and have to agree. Butt ugly-check. My 642 was quite shootable with it installed-check. Made it more difficult to pocket carry-check. YMMV.

Like most things, you just need to try one for yourself and make your own choice.

oneounceload.... Thanks for the input. I really wanted to buy those and try them but went with the longer Hogue grips instead, (see attached). The longer grip really improved my shot groups. So, how do you state the differences between the stock grips and your new grips into words? Does the gun 'roll' less on each shot? Are follow up shots easier? In what manner is it harder to pocket, (that's my primary way to carry the 642)? Is it easy to transition your grip to that or is it a new learned method of shooting?

Felt a sample model at a gun show a while back on a fake gun. I liked how it felt. Yes, it is not the prettiest. Anyway, I just ordered one, waiting for it to arrive. I want to see how it will soak up the recoil, since I want to carry .357 in my 60 or 640. I'll let you know. I don't care if the BG laughs at it....

I had great luck with the new Tyler folks.

I filled out the form, sent it and the money, and got the grip in about 2 weeks or so. Looks great, fits great, feels great!

I've noticed those delta grips at my LGS and yes they are ugly. Haven't bothered to try them. Not because they are ugly (which they are) but I know from experience that the angle of the grip makes shooting double action an issue for me. It's just more difficult for me to get enough leverage one the trigger. Great idea but I prefer the grip angle to be more acute.

Im thinking the stock Hogue grips are just about right. Throw in a little more arthritis and I might be willing to give them a second look... Maybe

I can get all three fingers on this grip where I couldn't with the original grips and it holds your wrist at a comfortable angle so the recoil seems to be lessened.

It appears we are going back to the the grip angle of flintlock pistols but with finger grooves. The more things change - the more they stay the same. So maybe next they'll be selling us shotguns and rifles with straight English stocks. It'll make for a pretty funny looking AR.

I too have been waiting for a honest opinion on the "ergo" grips before spending $30. Have been considering them for my EDC 637. Thanks for the review. I care less about how a EDC looks. It ain't a beauty contest, but a shootin' contest.

Yes, I appreciate the report too. I'd still like to know how it affects pocket carry. Harder to draw? Bulkier? etc.?

"It appears we are going back to the the grip angle of flintlock pistols..."

And to before flintlocks, wheel locks had a grip angle like an Ergo. What's known as a saber grip today was very familiar to
folks back then for controlling where sharp points went and it seems they may have angled the gun grip just enough to be able to look down the top of the barrel to line things up, with no sights.
