Was in discussion on a bookseller website with American, expat clown who lives in Britain . While it was going to be "pearls before swine" as far as he was concerned was going to give some links to pro-gun sites maintained by folks usually associated with the other side for the possible edification of more impressionable browsers on the site. I hadn't used these "Favorites" links in quite a while.

Democrats for the Second Amendment: www.d2a.org brings up somekind of search/shopping site. Did a Google and got the same web address. IS this organization still around?

Seniors United Supporting the Second Amendment: www.sussa.org Looks like it hasn't been updated since 2002 (although, in truth, I did not spend a lot of time checking out all parts of the site). Is this outfit still active?

(Was glad to see JPFO was still around and up-to-date.)

Thanks for any updated info on these or related organizations.

Joe

If you want pro-2A folks from groups that are usually assumed to be anti, you can't do much better than the Pink Pistols. Best quote: "It's easier to come out to gun people about being gay than it is to come out to gay people about liking guns."

And of course: "Armed gays don't get bashed."

Seniors United Supporting the Second Amendment was recently quoted in a Christian Science Monitor on seniors choosing to pack guns more frequently. The article was in the last week, so I assume they are still active.

Mark, yeah, it sorta looked that way. I assume the organization is also defunct. Sadly, the apparent lack of viability of such an organization proves the point of those that assert that you can tell a Democrat is anti-2A simply by his/her choice of party, despite protestations, press releases and campaign statements to the contrary.

As a gun owning Democrat, I don't know how useful it is to found a group devoted entirely to pro-2nd Amendment Democrats. First of all, there aren't that many us(at least not in my area). Second of all, what could we do that the bigger groups can't? And third, it's counterproductive to split the NRA or GOA or whoever into a left wing and a right wing based on non-gun issues.

The best thing pro-gun Democrats can do is to make the case to other Democrats that gun control is wrong, ineffective and politically stupid.

That link that Microbalrog provided was interesting. But the author might want to rethink his statement that a group of "deer hunters" can't take on a conventional army. The Finns did just that in the Winter war and those deer hunters turned into snipers who harassed the Red Army to no end.
