Good read on the chances of renewal at the above link; but the highlights are that Democrats in tight races are opposed to the ban and hope it isn't an issue for the election.

Carolyn McCarthy says that they probably won't use a discharge petition to force a floor vote on renewal of the semi-auto ban - that is a real good sign for us. It suggests very strongly that they don't have the votes to pass a ban renewal in the House.

Also a good discussion of which politicians are trying to fly under the radar by not taking a position on the ban renewal. My personal feeling is that if any of those politicians were representing me, I would take their silence as a negative and vote against them unless their opponent was clearly worse.

Standing Wolf:

That's what they'd earnestly like us to believe, anyway.

Notice how their magazines never leave their hands.

I am still not too trusting of the dems who say they are against gun control and especially the AWB, unless their previous voting record demonstrates that they are being at least somewhat truthful. Problem is, it's getting hard to trust some Republicans on this issue as well.

Many people have shared with us the responses they have received from their congressmen, both Representatives and Senators, both Democrats and Republicans. I have seen a lot of non committal to letting the AWB die a natural death. Some won't even talk about it. Instead they give us some drivel about being a hunter and how this provides them with an understanding of our rights to keep and bear arms, blah, blah, blah.....

Show us the votes, and maybe we'll show them the money. They want it the other way around.

Show us the money, and maybe we'll show you the votes.

Time is ripe to reverse their fortunes if they don't protect our rights.
