If you've been deployed then I'm sure you got one.....In 2004 while on patrol of our base in western Iraq. We found a pile of broken/demilled wepons and among them..an engraved 12. guage o/u, a German Sten gun, a beut of a mauser ( all sawed in half) and ofcourse the multiple AK's....Also found and RPG launcher buried in a drainage ditch near our camp.....Many more but I'm interested in other stories from other people...

where were you?, when were you there? and what great firearm stories do you got from deployments?

My friend at 3/101 had a mint mauser 98 with arabic writing hanging on his office wall. I got some good pictures of it.Someone from the "Command Group" can you say REMF?? They wanted it and took it!! I am sure it got taken home somehow!!

is this for firearms out taken out of country? If so, I thought they were real strict about that. I know of a couple of reports of soldiers being arrested here in the US for brining home AKs.

Weapons can be taken out for "Museums/display". It takes a ton of paperwork. That is how those gold plated AK's got home.

No this is not about weapons taken home illegally...This is just about weapons you saw, confiscated..ETC..ETC
And FYI an Army Lt. I met in a Stryker vehicle during my last civilian tour had obtained and legally got the right to take home a Browning Hi-Power 9 mill he had confiscated from a suspected insurgent. It is possible.

Hoppy..yes an MP3008, there were other "Grease guns" there too but I don't know much about them..but I googled the MP and it looked to be exactly the same thing that was a rusty sawed in two gun in that pile..
