Greetings,

I have no issue with the 357mag and .45acp depriming with my dillon 550b, but with the 9mm caliber, sometimes the primer does not get out of the case with the depriming station. It looks like the pin misses 1 or 2 millimeters to be real efficient.

I dissasembled the die (Just uncrewed the top screw and extracting the pin thing with the srping) and I tried to unscrew the grey cap to see if I can pull out the pin more but it is really stuck up and I think it won't be possible anyway to pull out the pin.

Anyone had that issue and knows how to correct it? I am quite about to call Dillon today.

Thank you

It sounds like the spent primer is sticking to the bottom of the decap pin and getting pushed out, then pulled back up into the primer pocket. Use a medium grit sandpaper and lightly break the squared edges at the bottom of the decap pin. The assembly will come apart, but the knurled cap that holds the decap pin is blue loc-tited in place. Hold the knurled cap with pliers, use the appropriate allen wrench to unscrew the upper decap bolt.

Greetings,

Did not work to lightly break the edges with a 200 sandpaper. I noticed the brass that is stamped *I* 9mm Luger but it is not all the brass stamped that way that does that.

Moreover, sometimes, decapping a second time works.

I have a question about that part:
'The assembly will come apart, but the knurled cap that holds the decap pin is blue loc-tited in place. Hold the knurled cap with pliers, use the appropriate allen wrench to unscrew the upper decap bolt."

If I do that, will it be possible to make the pin a little bit longer?

Thank you

We don't make a longer decap pin. Haven't found it to be necessary. Pin length is not adjustable. Round the point of the decap pin a smidgen more.

I have run into this myself, usually with Speer nickle brass. I will try rounding the decap pin and see if that fixes my problem too.

I personally think it is the brass. Mine does this with the Dillon die and a Lee die. And it only does it with CCI brass. CCI, Speer, *I*... all the same.
I'm blaming the brass. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Greetings,

As of now, I reloaded 731 9mm rounds. I have a wide range of mixed brass and the only time is does that it is with *i* 9mm luger marked brass.

Sooooo.... You are right, it may be the brass the issue.

Thank you
