Deputy Shoots & Kills Suspect

A Bibb County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a suspect during a domestic dispute call Friday night.

Lieutenant David Davis says two deputies were dispatched to the Oak Grove Trailer Park in Bibb County.

A fight broke out with the suspect as deputies were talking to him.

Davis says the man tried to grab the deputies' guns.

He was shot in the chest as he struggled with them.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified, but sheriff's deputies will not release his name yet.

The body will go to a crime lab for an autopsy.

Davis says an investigation will take place, that's standard procedure.

I've been exploring the police website policeone.com and it's interesting to learn about the unarmed law enforcement officers in australia and the UK. So I was wondering if anyone might come along and "point out the obvious"...

"you know... if those deputies weren't armed this might never have happened."
