I've been looking at .44 mag desert eagles, I've noticed that the Mark VII is less expencive than the XIX, is there a big difference in quality? Is the XIX worth the extra price? Please post your replies and vote based both on quality and price.

IIRC, the MkVIIs (.357mag, .41mag, and .44mag) required slide/barrel/spring/mag assemblies to change between calibers. The .50AE MkVII was the basis for the MkXIX. All calibers (minus the dropped .41mag) can be interchanged with just the barrel/spring/mag (and the bolt for the .357mag).
By getting a .44mag MkVII, you would need an entire upper assembly to switch calibers. With a MkXIX, you would not need to get a new slide, Just barrel, spring, mag, (bolt). Plus, the MkVII .50AE and the MkXIXs have the Picatinny-type rail integrally machined on top of the barrel for scope mounting. For the other MkVIIs, you need to attach a Picatinny/Weaver-type rail onto the dovetail rib on top of the barrel.
In short, you save the cost of a new slide if you want to change calibers and decide to go with the MkXIX.

A buddy just picked up a Mk XIX 
Very fun! Then he learned all he needs are barrels & mags to change calibers. Now, he's on a quest to collect the diff't calibers!

also of note is that the mark VII's tended to have some problems with their little springs. IIRC in 50AE, (dunno if it did it in 44 magnum) it would occaisionally shoot the spring for the magazine return off into the great outdoors or wherever you happened to be shooting. some of the changes between the VII and XIX IIRC were not so much major, but little things that made manufacturing and QA easier.
