I recently purchased a MK XIX .44 magnum desert eagle. Due to the lack of ammo these days i shot some pretty standard stuff the other day and only about 50% of the rounds fed. I did have two whole magazines out (16 out of 80) rounds go all the way through with no problems. One was rapid fire, the other was slow and aimed. I think it was using some PMC 240 grain.

It was as accurate as my 686 and it was pretty pleasant to shoot and the rounds that did cycle extracted flawlessly (and actually flung at the ceiling with some force).

I know for certain that I wasn't cupping the magazine or letting the muzzle roll.

Does anyone have an off-the-shelf ammo that they know will work well? I am going to try to find some 240 grain 1200-1500 fps (seems to be what IWI recommends). A review that i read used some Hornady 240 grain hunting rounds.

I guess the hotter the better as long as it is a standard length round, the mk XIX was built to fire .50AE rounds.
