Detail Stripping. Why?

I have never heard of a firearm being destroyed from over-cleaning.

Absolutely correct!

If the way you are cleaning your weapon is causing damage and or wear, learn how to inspect, maintain, clean and lubricate your weapon properly, THEN DO IT.

Rationalizations and excuses are the ONLY reasons for not Inspecting, maintaining, cleaning and lubricating your fighting weapons when they are used or about to be used. That includes detailing the weapon for the above too. The Detail is usually not needed every time you use your weapon, but more often then most folks do. I detail my CCW 1911, (one of my two Colt Gunsite Pistols 5", both are kept ready to go.) about every other month. I inspect, maintain, clean and lubricate my CCW 1911 every time I fire it. Also my Fighting rifles and shotguns.

Go figure.
