Determining OAL with different bullet...

I have a obtained a few Berry's 7.62x39 110gr round nose bullets. These are radically different from the "standard" pointy 7.62x39 bullet normally used in an SKS or AK. My question: How do I determine the OAL for finished cartridges using these bullets? How do I determine how deeply to seat these? They are at least 4-6 millimeters shorter than a "standard" 7.62 bullet.

Until now, I have usually used "like" bullets with some retail cartridges on pistol (straight cased) cartridges.

They'll need to fit in the magazine and you'll need roughly 1 caliber's worth inside the neck for adequate tension.

You'll also need to make sure the bullet isn't getting stuffed into the lands when you chamber. Check by stuffing a cartridge into the chamber with your thumb. If it drops out from gravity alone, then you are not into the lands. Pretty simple.

Start low and work up. Other than a difference in case capacity, the bearing surface of the bullet might be vastly different than your typical bullets. My final advice is to search hard to find some published data for your bullet and caliber.

the oal spec would be the same regardless. the bullet needs to be seated at least .308" or 7.62 mm to give the case enough bearing surface for correct bullet "grip". what kind of rifle are theses to be shot from not to offend but if it's an AK SKS i did not think they would be as finicky as a bolt or singkle shot rifle. too long can be a problem, and possibly dangerous from jamming a bullet to far into the lands= too high starting pressures. on the other hand i have seated bullets shorter on certian rifles and have had MOA accuracy.
