I was at the gun show yesterday and found what I think is an early Detonics Mk 1 45. It was in pretty good shape, so I made the trade for it. What was the first year on manufactre for the Mk 1. The serial number is 30XX and the left side of the slide says PAT. PENDING. If anybody has any information, I would be very happy.

I'm not sure where your serial number falls into line. But the MK I Combat Master was the first Detonics to go into production. It was also the only blued in production. The MK I has an Essex frame. The production start was in 1976. I tried to find serial number runs for the Combat Master with no success.
I do know that there was no definite line between the models. Some models had the same features as the previous models.
For instance I have a MK VI. According to everything I have read it should have a polished slide. But mine has the satin stainless finish of the MK V.
