I have never taken a handgun training class and would like to. Anyone know of a good class in the DFW area?

I'm already fairly competent when it comes to shooting. What I'm wanting is to really get my abilities razor-sharp. So I am not wanting someone to show me how to load and which end the bullet comes out of.

I do, however, want a class that begins with grip, stance, site picture, etc.

What are your recommendations?

Finally a subject that I can add something to!

Some friends and I recently completed three "defensive pistol" classes from the Collin County Gun Range located in McKinney (www.ccgunrange.com). We are reasonably compedent shooters but did not have previous practical training.

The classes were led by two knowledgable and very entertaining police firearm instructors. Class sizes are small (5-8 people), the price is reasonable, and we all got a lot out of our time there.

The first class does get your fundamentals of grip, stance, and trigger control down pretty well and then they build from there.

+1 for TacPro Shooting Center, Bill and Alice are great as are many of the others out there. The absolute coolest part about the place is the 1000 yard range when they put on sniper competitions, its a blast to go watch.

The Dallas area is positively rotten with good training opportunities.

Len Baxely and co [TDSA] for shooting fast & accurate.

Bill Davison [Tac Pro] for pretty much anything you could want.

Steve Moses still runs the occassional class in the area and coordinates a lot of trainers coming into the area.

Davison's Primary Pistol class would probably be your best 'bang-for-the-buck' for a core defensive pistol workup.
