DHS buying 140,000 "sniper rounds"

What's funny is, its the same load when it's their pistol critical defense line. And there's so much 308 available I don't think price will go up too much. If it does, start casting!

Sure. They're dipped in croton oil. Get hit with one and you involuntarily fill your drawers with Pelosi.

Oh, yeah. Of course! The zombie is z-max, and the red tip is a-max with exact same load data. Nothing different than the box and tip color. They just want to make it look as bad as possible. You train with the rounds you would shoot with in that case, I believe they're true training rounds.

Even though many people say infowars so FAKE!!!! I think there does tend to be a grain to truth to what they post. Not all of it is true but they do get some things right. I mean NASA and the Department of Education have SWAT teams.......

I cringe whenever I hear the name "infowars"....

“What makes the .308 ammunition so deadly is the long range capability of the round,” notes James Smith. “The ability is called ballistic coefficient, or the efficiency of a projectile in overcoming air resistance as it travels to its target. According to Speer Reloading Manual Number 13, the .308 165 grain has the highest coefficient of any hunting rifle.”

What..huh??? I guess they've never heard of 7mm magnum or 300 win mag. :)

Anyway, assuming the Federal Government actually has snipers in the department of homeland security who practice, 140,000 rounds isn't a LOT by any stretch of the imagination.

I shoot ~200 rounds a month in long range practice and competition; 2400 rounds a year. And that's just one weekend a month training / competition regimen. Not even serious; just casual.

Assuming they practice at that modest regimen, that's enough to keep 58 people trained and practiced each year.

Not a whole lot, there...

"Immigration & Customs Enforcement". Suppose that might have anything to do with border security?

"DHS buys 200,000 rolls of toilet paper"

Better stock up, guys. Buy it cheap and stack it deep. Keep yer paper dry.

With the cartels so heavily armed by Fast and Furious, I can't say I blame them for wanting lots of "sniper ammo" to practice with.

Well for border defense, that's hardly anything! They've got a Remington 700 in every guard tower! I'm sure you got 8 hour shifts and a dozen or more snipers. 36 personnel right there. 50 rounds a week seems modest, and you need a stockpile! 140,000 ain't enough.

2000 miles of border with mexico. Sure can't secure that with handguns. Not unless you want to put (and pay for) an agent every 50 yards. (That'd be 70,400 agents, give or take, per shift, times 3 shifts.)

Even if you have a guard tower every 1600 yards with overlapping fields of fire at the 800 yard mark, that's still 2,000+ towers with snipers. Or 6,000 full time trained snipers to man them 24x7.

Hell, 308 isn't long range ENOUGH. Get those boys some 338 Lapuas or 50BMG's!

:)

Bwahahaha...ha.haa.

An infowars piece on a prepperpodcast spin on a lousy 140,000 rounds of .308??? And anyone takes it seriously?

Exactly.

"Remember boys and girls, Infowars is a government conspiracy to destroy the critical thinking skills of the nation's gun owners! You need a tinfoil hat to keep the government conspiracy from filling your head with the kind of ideas that make you want to go put on a tinfoil hat."
