David Frost, if memory serves?

Steve Allen was my favorite Tonight Show host, behind Johnny Carson, of course, But Steve started it all, so he has mojo points.

Yes, David Frost. There was actually a recent dramatization of the Frost - Nixon interviews, the process of the making of them rather than the interviews themselves, that was excellent. Can't recall who played Frost and Nixon off the top of my head.

HOLY HELL!! They've finally figured it out

By all means, PLEASE, pack your **** and GO!!!! Preferably to England or China. I'm sure you'll love it there.
Hell yes!!!

I'm going to wager crime in America goes down drastically when the Libs leave.

Because, all the gun toting criminals will follow them: they'll be easy prey no matter where they go!

Frank Langela played Nixon and he was phenomenal, and some British actor played frost he was ok.

No there is a nother one in between, must be 50's or 60's now, also did a few movies, OK Dennis Miller. It came back to me. He will be next I bet

Okay, I decided I had to reply to Dick's comments. I hope the last paragraph gets by the NYT moderator--it is pretty well subdued compared to the original. I did run it by the THR staff before posting here.

Pretentious pseudo intellectualism and verbal flatulence seem to be a high art here.

Whether this conversation demonizing firearms owners is in ringing academic tones or uneducated Southern drawl coming through white sheets the bottom line is the same: stereotyping, irrational fears, prejudice and willful ignorance. Bigotry. Firearms control laws have a fine history of racism and the current suggestions for laws that punish the responsible 99.5% for the sins of the .5% fall right in line with that history of bigotry.

The stereotypes include equating firearms with violence and decent firearms owners with depraved criminals and child molesters. The willful ignorance is of the NRA's original charter and ongoing tradition of promoting safe and responsible firearms ownership and severe punishment for criminal use. The willful ignorance is failing to have a clue about current firearms sports and the quality of people who participate.

Proposed laws such as firearms bans, registration and insurance assume guilt and put a burden on the decent 99.5% while doing nothing to control the actual criminals.

Then we have Dick's comments on the phallic symbols of firearms. (As a side note, snubbies are "in".) I wonder how Dick would deal with handling a flashlight or screwdriver.

Dick Cavett is still alive?! Wow

No offense to the aged, but have you noticed how many of the anti-gun zealots are.. old? I mean really old. Worn out old. Not old-in-years-but-young-at-heart. I take it as a good sign whenever I see Frank and Dianne. Even "young" ones like Waxman are getting up there. And in his case looking more and more freakish every year.

They probably won't post it; I just looked and didn't see it - never trust the NYT

I'm 29. Don't believe I've ever heard of the guy.

He's pulling your leg. Jay Leno - Carson's replacement (twice I think) - is already 62 years old. Born in 1950.

Johnny Carson was born in 1925 and Jack Parr 1918.

Like I said, if everyone was old like us the whole damned species would die out.

Dick Cavett escaped from whatever Haitian prison they send washed up celebrities to when they fade from view? Well I'll be . . .

Maybe they can up the ante next and get Rich Little to do an anti-gun piece.
