Did gen 4 Glock 27 solve all gen 3 problems?

Gen 3 Glock 27 had problems? My Gen 3 Glock 27 has been 100% reliable from straight out the box and i CCW the weapon everyday. I owned it since 2009. Has honest holster wear gets a few hundred rounds a year through it and cleaned/lubed every 6 months. If there are/were any inherent problems with the Gen 3 Glock 27 I haven't experienced any.

I've carried the same G27 for 15 years or so. 10s of thousands of rounds and no problem. I've changes a few RSA but otherwise no problems. Slide looks like hell but its still my carry.

I also use 2 different Glock 22s (gen 3) for competition. Neither has had any issue.

I was to understand that the gen 3 40cal. had some feeding/extraction issues, but I don't have any experience with them. I could be mistaken.

I'm glad yours has been 100%! I only asked the question because I have a lead on a cheep one, and I was suspicious.

The earlier 22s had some issues with frame flex/malfunctions with weapon lights attached. That is the main issue I was aware of and that was rectified AFAIK. The other changes that were made over time AFAIK is more case support to the feed ramp. I think the Gen 4 uses a different recoil spring system as well.

The only thing I heard of was malfunctions with a light mounted. Our neighboring county department issued the 22 with a light for years and had no issue. Also one of my own G22s has had a light mounted its entire life and had no issue but if I were wanting to run a light id get a gen 4 just in case. The gen 4 can be found cheaper than the gen 3 anyway.

As far as gen 4 problems I have no clue. I have numerous Glocks but I tend to buy gen3 or earlier just so I can keep spare parts without having so many part numbers. Never an issue. Also my local department went to a 45 (then later a 9mm) so we never saw the gen4 Glock 22 other than small handed people who couldn't use the big 45.

The Gen 3 26/27 Glocks used a dual recoil spring while all Gen 4 Glocks were changed to use a dual spring.

G27 Gen 3 twice. Never a problem with either of them. My newest (used trade-in) has a great trigger.

The Gen 4 recoil system was designed to address the Gen 3 G22 WML/frame flex issues ( not enough ) it also caused the initial feeding issues with the G17/G19.

The unfortunate thing was that the Gen4 retained the "wall" in its trigger travel...that's what makes the Gen 5 better.

They have still chosen to to address the BTF issue at its core

I've not had a chance to shoot one yet, but that is the reports I'm hearing.

If they address BTF it would become a viable replacement for my Gen2 G19

Now sure how an indefinable non-wall is better, but I have also heard lots of reports that the Gen 5 trigger is the best OEM Glock trigger yet.

The trigger was one of the HUGE factors in my decision. I have not shot it yet, but dry-firing a gen4 next to a gen5 feels like a world of difference! I don't mind hitting a wall, but all the gen4's I've felt hit a wall, followed by a semi-long, mushy take-up. The gen5's is butter smooth all the way through.
