I sure hope not, but I'm not so sure. I took my new AK out for the first time today and fired about 100 rounds through it. When I stripped it down to clean it, the chamber caught my eye. It looks like there is a dent in the bottom edge of it; it almost looks like a feed ramp. I don't remember if it was there before or not. I tried looking for pictures of a normal AK chamber, but couldn't find any. Should I be worried, or did I just miss this the first time I looked over the rifle?

Some AKs will have the bullet guide hit the bullet as they chamber a round. I was told some people fix this by grinding down the bullet guide a bit. That might be it, but there is no way to tell for sure without pictures.

I have seen them made that way- you are talking about a little half moon shape ground out the lower edge of the chamber? Maybe a 1/16" or 1/8" deep?

Unless you drove over it with a Tank, shot it with a rifle, or put demo charges on it - you probably didn't do any harm to it shooting 100rnds through it. What your refering to is the bullet feed guide or if there is a dent in the chamber it was there before you got it...

I think brainsmithwins has it. If that's what you see in your AK, then it's perfectly normal.

It is one of the Polish AKs with the underfolder stock. It's lightly used, it was assembled from a parts kit and a Global Trades receiver. The finish on the kit was in good enough shape I didn't bother to have it refinished. The chamber looks exactly like the pic that briansmithwins posted. I could have sworn though, that it wasn't there before I took it out. I guess that just goes to show how well I pay attention to these things. I wondered if maybe I was a little overzealous with my handloads or something, even though 25.3gr is well under the max of 27gr for Reloder 7. At least when handloading I write everything down so I can figure out what rounds are what. Thanks everybody.
