true
:D
Companies are being more & more sneaky everyday.
The feds & the FTC look the other way because these web firms or giant corporations(Yahoo, Google, Facebook, MSN, etc) help the DoD/CIA/FBI.

What a racket. :banghead:

NOBODY should buy ANY email list. period.

Yeah, that's a realistic way to run a direct product business... I'm sure Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, etc. have never purchased an email list.

Funny, I keep getting catalogs in the mail and emails from firms I've never heard of. Wonder how that happens...?

Could it possibly be that some firm I've purchased something from has "shared" my address or email address with another firm?

I got the email from Scott @ ATG.

I also got an email from TargetSportsUSA, but Google sent it straight to my Spam folder. Interesting what Google knew and how they knew it.

Today I received an email from Home Depot stating their email lists had been compromised.

"Dear Valued Customer,

The Home Depot has discovered that a file containing your email address may have been taken during the payment card breach we announced in September. The file contained email addresses, but it did not contain passwords, payment card information, or other sensitive personal information. We apologize for this incident and for the inconvenience and frustration this may cause you.

In all likelihood this event will not impact you, but we recommend that you be on the alert for phony emails requesting personal or sensitive information. If you have any questions or would like additional information on how to protect yourself from email scams, please visit our website or call 1-800-HOMEDEPOT.

Again, we apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this incident may have caused. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The Home Depot"

Looks like everybody is having problems.

I started getting emails a few days ago from an outfit called Freedom Munitions. I had never heard of or done business with them.

I got the email from Ammo to Go today also. it's been five years since i bought anything from them.

They are related to Extreme Bullets, I get email from them both within minutes
